Textured Jersey, owned by Brandix lanka and Pacific Textiles of Hong Kong is planning to raise 2.9 billion rupees from private placement and IPO.

Already KURU and MGT are struggling to survive. Who is going to apply this IPO? What would be the future? How they can survive without GSP plus.

according to my knowledge they don't want GSP. because they have permanent buyers. see their site. GSP is not a significant for permanent buyer holders like brandix."Brandix Lanka is the largest apparel exporter in Sri Lanka and
manufactures a wide range of apparel to service the best brands in the world, supports Textured as a strategic link in their
supply chain."

Even KURUWITA TEXTILE MILLS PLC is backed by Brandix Lanka. It has become a loss making company during last 4 quarters.

So brandix owns and operates businesses like these totally in the apparel industry. Does it mean brandix is going to be a loss making company?

I didn't say Brandix is a loss making company. But KURU didn't produce any decent results recently.

Brandix would not risk damaging its reputation by trying to IPO one of its group companies if it is not doing well - the amounts raised are simply not worth it.

Textiles and garment exports from Sri Lanka have done very well since September 2010, showing strong growth on a YoY basis each month upto December 2010 - there are clearly some winners in the garment industry, let us see if Textured Jersey is one of them.

Also remember that MGT's recent problems were mainly due to poor management and a lack of good internal controls.

as per the prospectus ,

EPS for year ending 31march 2011 (before split 5:18) is Rs 4.29 (USD 0.04) actual EPS after the Spilt on 25th March 2011 , pre IPO is 4.29X5/18= 1,19 Rs . if we take the sector PER as 18 (MFG) this share is worth 1.19x18= 21
