Sri Lanka Telecom along with Bangladesh’s IDLC Finance Limited and Prime Bank Limited got the award in the Best Presented Annual (BPA) Report Awards which was hosted by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka).
"Today our countries operate in a world where effective communication is a vital constituent of good governance," CA Sri Lanka President Sujeewa Rajapakse was quoted as saying in a statement.
"The world is getting smarter, and people are beginning to talk and understand the efficiency and effectiveness of corporate reporting.
"Amidst changing trends, organisations are now taking exceptional efforts in ensuring all stakeholders are given a clear and balance view of their organisations performance and so events such as these further promotes these important objectives."
Union Assurance, Commercial Bank of Ceylon and John Keells Holdings and three companies each in Bangladesh and Pakistan also won the SAARC Anniversary Award for corporate governance.
Commercial Bank of Ceylon, Hatton National Bank and Sampath Bank got awards in the private banks category while National Savings Bank, Bank of Ceylon and People’s Bank won as state banks for the best presented annual reports, CA Sri Lanka said.
Union Assurance, HNB Assurance and Janashakthi Insurance won as insurers and in financial services Peoples Leasing Co. Ltd., DFCC Bank and Mercantile Investments got awards.
In the manufacturing sector, CIC Holdings, Chemanex and Singer (Sri Lanka) Plc won awards, Sri Lanka Telecom Plc own the award in communication and information technology.
Hayleys, Aitken Spence and John Keells Holdings for the services sector, while the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, Association of Accounting Technicians of Sri Lanka and the Plantation Human Development Trust got awards as NGOs.
Watawala Plantations, Kelani Valley Plantations and Namunukula Plantations got awards in agriculture.
