Well, I have been investing my money on CSE from last two years & I have been gain and been loss. I learned only from my mistakes, but still I’ve no idea about simulate/analysis the CSE market.

Some guys from here are talking about P/E, ratio & so on, but I'm still noobiness for those as my high education was physics and my accounting knowledge is in level zero.

As well as I want to be a long term investor who is determined to stick with stocks no matter what... I turn back, what I did so far?, I have to learn…., but where is the resources?

So far, I have read following book which gave me a good start about what I’m looking for
stock investing for dummies
learn to earn by peter lynch
the millionaire next door
rich dad guide to investing by robert kiyosaki

But those all are basic about investing and almost related to US market. I need to read something more than that, where I need to analysis CSE companies by myself, take a decisions to invest on the right place & so on.. I guess, I don't have to be an accountant for this matter, although learning the basics of accounting may help. But where?

Can somebody please point me to the right direction to enhance my accounting knowledge & upgrade basic analysis skill about CSE, I'm willing to read anything you provided... Very Happy

Any help would be highly appreciated.
Thanks

zap2010x . I joined the market beginning of this year. I will tell you. School didnt teach me anything about investing. I'm 18 and im learning and leaned alot

Let me recommend you one and only good website.

Investopedia - Google it and see, and you will find answers to all your questions. The knowledge you need to know about investing in different things.

I learned alot from this site, you just have to sit down and go thru investopedia, you will find the light in the end.

If you have any questions regarding, please feel free to post anyhting, there will be valuable and uselful advice and market information and news. But let me make my self clear, never take this forum as a guide to investments.
Do your homework. Go back to school

Though the original poster says he has a physics background, which means he is equiped to become a sucessfull quantitative trader. Matlab and R, favourite tools amongst physicist and mathematians also happens to be favourite tools for many quantitative traders. Regression used in physics labs everyday is also an essential component of many trading strategies so zap2010x can look inwards for knowledge.

great advice from wallstreet!! i think studying financial statements in detail helps a lot.
ratios such as quick asset, inventory turn over ratio, dividend pay out ratio, ROCE, EPS, net profit margin are some of the ratios that will determine the strength of a company. and then you have to look for their quarter on quarter performance. see whether they have been earning more profits than what they did in the past. some company's have increased earnings due to season effect. such as LCEY, plantation stocks and etc. if you study the financial statements and invest in a company that is undervalued in particular sector, that stock is bound go up someway or another. only time will tell. investors and traders have to realize the worth of a company before they put their hands in to it. there are some massively undervalued shares in CSE that are not gaining attention. once they do, they will have their time. investing is not casino. it can not guarantee you 100% returns overnight. however, i have faith that it will still draw more return to us compared to depositing money in a FD.

for your information, i bought a book from SEC. thats located in the west tower of WTC 27th floor as i remember. the name of the book is EQUITY SECURITIES by Lalith Samarakoon. its only 1000 bucks. i suggest you read that. it quite covers your basic questions. hope this helps.

Agreed..there are very bad people in these forums that will try to humiliate others, but they are small, unintelligent people. We can Just ignore them. They are miserable and try to show others how miserable they are. They make the bad mistake of confusing kindness with weakness.

Again thank you so much for your valuable input.. please keep it up..

Thanks

Not quite sure who you are accusing of being unhelpful, just in case it's me: you can start by reading the article on Investopedia the site that wallstreet pointed you to about using regression in trading. Then the Mathworks white paper on using Matlab for trading http://www.mathworks.com/company/events/emea_finance/Spotlight_Automated_Trader_Q2.pdf

And lastly if you can find a copy of the book 'My Life as A Quant: Reflections on Physics and Finance.' by Emannuel Derman (a former vice president of Goldman Sachs and one of many physcisits working on Wall Street), please be so kind as to share it with me. I can't seem to find it in any of the local bookshops.
