As I told everyone earlier in the forum ELPL is the most undervalued stock among plantation sector. Only during downtrend time people see the value of these kind of boring stocks.
still very much undervalued looking at there financial figures. They're maintaining these kind of results during the hardest times of operating a plantation company in Sri Lanka.

I can't say what sought of profit level they might achieve if tea price turnaround, but if tea prices turnaround there profits will expediently rises. 70% of there top line is contributed by tea. There main businesss is tea followed up by palm n very small exposure into rubber.
They're making money from there joint venture of hydro power also.

There management is very good, they identified the imminent rubber crisis n diversified there crop accordingly. That's why companies like wata elpl doing good.
they're a proactive board not like kotagala, where they were expanding into Cambodia with rubber cultivation when rubber prices were crashing. They're heavily into rubber n bleeding money.

i also picked this around 21 level. going to keep this until tea prices recovers. if it doesn't i know this company wont make any losses due to there well diversified portfolio.

Jayathu will there be any chance of a split?? I think they can split this share 1to2 and defend the current price. There EPS is 4.55, so PE ratio is 5.50, Nav is 45+. If they split PE ratio will climb to 11 and nav per share will be 23+. Well below fellow sector peer levels even after split.

There should be light at the end of the tunnel for quality tea producers in Sri-Lanka.
Strong USD is very good for tea exporters. Number one winner in this type of situation.

After long time western high grown tea prices have gone up above the prices of Low grown tea average prices. This is something to study.

Quality tea producers will have great demand for their products from countries such as the USA, CHINA and Europe in the coming years.

Palm Oil

Palm oil is a vegetable oil obtained from the flesh of palm fruits. The palm fruit is the fruit of the oil palm, which grows primarily in Malaysia and Indonesia. These two countries together produced around 85 per cent of the global output of palm oil in 2007, which was 39 million tonnes. This is equivalent to a doubling in the production of palm oil since 1995. This is due to the fact that palm oil is now used mainly in energy production. Because palm oil can be processed more cheaply than other types of biodiesel, palm oil is now used primarily in the production of biofuels.

I agree with that palm oil and tea prices have bottomed out. Still we need to watch in this area.

Sri-Lankan palm oil companies benefited mainly due to (government support) higher import duty on edible oils. Otherwise importers could have imported palm oil and other oil very cheaply. It is highly unlikely oil will go to above $100 in the short run. Rather we should see volatility. There was some short term support for some commodities mainly iron ore prices in April due to speculative trading in China. After that it went down by 27% in a month. We should see some volatility in palm oil prices as well.

ELPL is one of the stocks which can have some long term potential. We have to study its long term potential including cost and turnover etc.
