Seylan Bank shares have been trading without much of a movement during last few week. Seylan Bank share remain at the same level when the All share index was around 6,300 levels during the latter part of 2009.

It is learnt that some of the big investors including Dr Senthiveil, Isara Nanayakkara and Ajith Devsurendra are holding large quantities of Seylan Bank shares expecting it to move up very soon.

Further the CEO of the Seylan Bank Ajith Pasquael has been re-designated as a consultant and Board of directors are looking at infusing new faces into the management.

Meanwhile investment community in colombo is also anticipating a potential merger between NDB and Seylan Bank under the patronage of the Central Bank which requires both companies to meet the capital adequacy levels at the year end. Government through treasury and other public institutions holds substantial shares in both NDB and Seylan Bank respetively.

hmm...

interesting. there seems to be some activity in the share these days. my broker also called me to tell about a leaked earnings for the quarter that showed good results. if SEYB runs we might get a financial sector run.

Central bank is hush hush about the proposed merger, understandably! I am sure you know about the core capital requirement of the commercial bank as per central bank directions. Merger is considered as the the solution. Let's wait and see. Seylan bank non voting is the best bet...

No point in considering the X over the N in banking shares. percentage wise they'll perform the same and have performed the same for sometime. this can be confirmed by taking a look at both charts.

Hi Guys,
Im new to this place.
Do you guys have any idea about new CEO at SEYB. There is a rumor that former PB DGM, now NTB DGM is to fill the vacant seat. Heard that he has done great and should get all the credit to NTBs turnaround.

kapila Ariyaratne is one of the potential candidates for CEO's position considered by the board of Seylan. Kapila is one of the most dynamic senior executives in the market and I am sure he would be able to Seylan to next level.

We would like to see Seylan share price reflects it's true potentials.
