I think JINS is the best considering the amount paid as the divident Vs the share price..

I'm not sure how you are going to use this information in your decisions.
But I'm sure are aware , that the measure of your return is not the dividend , it is dividend yield

Further , in judging a company ,what is important is not the dividend , but dividend pay-out ratio.

I think CFVF gave Rs. 2.00 recently. At the time their share price was about Rs. 18/= or Rs. 19/=

If we just take Rs. 19/= then......

Dividend yield = 2 / 19 X 100 = 10.53% p.a. This is a good rate comparing the Tbill rates and FD rates.

Consider JINS...................
When you consider the history of this stock you can see it is a good dividend paying stock. Most of the profits earned by the company is distributed. That is why you can't see any big movements in this stock. Always around Rs. 14.50 to Rs. 20.00 range.

JINS gave Rs. 1.00 dividend somewhere around April this year. Actually this was a interim dividend. Which means there will be a another dividend. When you consider the cash flow statement of the company as at 30.06.2011 they have lot of cash generated by the business. So I think they will go for another dividend between Rs. 0.75 to 1.00 for this financial year. (not sure just a prediction based on past performance since last financial year they gave Rs. 2.00)

So yield this year considering a dividend of Rs. 1.75 for the whole year and average price of Rs. 15.50

.... = 1.75/ 15.50 X 100 = 11.29% better than keeping your money in FDs... and time to time you can get a good capital gain too.

Note : JINS and CFVF are in the same group.

Other good dividend paying stocks for me are .......... LLUB (caltex...they give quarterly dividends) and NEST.

Hi.............. I would like to add another point. If you are looking for dividend paying stocks just look at the following very very closely as well.................

1. Dividend paying history (Because companies mislead investors by giving big dividends to attract investors to boost the share price...so that owners can exit the business.)

2. Cash flow statement (Just check whether the business generate sufficient cash to pay dividends...because they might be taking loans to pay dividend which is risky)

3. And obviously Dividend payout (eg : EPS = Rs. 2.00, Dividend Rs. 1.50 so payout is 75% which means 75% of the profits generated by the business is paid back to investors.

AND
4. Dividend yield.....which is = Dividend / share price X 100
