I think after the many blunders in the past, SEC needs to really think the next moves and implement them. For this they are not considering the market pressures and time frame.Hence, they are taking their time perhaps. And i feel the new DG must be there and needs to have a say in any major policy plans for the future. Investors need to maintain patience. Hasty decisions will backfire.

Cheers!

Are u delluted ? I am not frustrated. What I have said is these meeting are useless and endless...They can not even appoint a DG and they are playing with investers confidence.
Personally I have not got any problem with this meeting.I have margin trading facility and I am not on any credit and I have invested my money on my favourite counters as a long term investment. So I have not got any reason to get frustrated.

@Appuhamy wrote:big players participation is the only way to up the market. That is the reality.
without them difficult to imagine a growth. All the other factors mentioned by some PANDITHS are just bullshit in a small market like a CSE.

I agree with you my friend. During the last 3 ,4 months all real players (PPl who are dealing significant amount of shares)were out. Only retailers are runing the show in very small scale. Average turnover is around Rs. 400 mn per day.(less than 4 mn US $) Even during the war time we had a turnover similar to this. That means policies or/and regulations(of the government and/or SEC) have badly effected the business and at last all real playyers(Bib ones) have left.So in Sri lanka no stock market is in live now. But dont forgot as in many other issues the system itself will find solutions to the problem. Stock market will not run for longer period without real players. On the other hand Real players(Big players)also cant stay out for a long period. Considering the strong economic development( Tourism,Construction,Manufacturing and in many other sectors)achieved recording a higher growth rate to be 4th in the World ranking etc.)our country will attract a record increase in both local and foriegn investment in 2012 and so on. Colombo will be a another boom town in Asia very soon.( Now we are passing a short difficult time.)
So we can expect Big players retrun in any moment creating vast oppotunities to retalers to earn. Any positive decision of SEC/Government would help real players to return early.

At the extreme case if the SEC bend to brokers, what would be the effect of let's say giving a bit more broker credit for what is already given broker credit from last year? If retail traders buy shares on credit they will get trapped in paying more interests. And the interest rates are going up. The actual company growth is like -10 - 10%. Only good news are driving the market. What will happen in a few weeks later when there are no other good news to run the market?
Price band only affects speculative stocks which pump up by a huge amount which will not happen in usual circumstances. So it's has no effect on the overall share market.
