At Tea Auctions held at the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce recently and an all Time Record prices were achieved by five garden marks.
These lines of tea were sold by John Keells PLC.
Sri Lanka's Tea Sale Averages have once again crossed the Rs.400/- mark, with an average of Rs. 406.39 for the month of November. It is the fourth consecutive month where averages have crossed Rs.400/-.
Once again we see a strong performance coming from the High Grown Sector of Rs. 425.98, an increase of Rs.85.17 over 2011; followed by Low Grown of Rs.406.39, an increase of Rs. 41.86. In the High Grown category, Uva High has recorded and impressive 33.86% increase for the month over last year, followed by an increase of 23.89% from CTC High and a 23% from Western High.
In the Low Grown category, CTC average of Rs. 415.67 stands out in comparison to Rs.405.34 for orthodox teas. The Mediums too have done exceptionally well for the month with an average of Rs. 379.75 which is a 20.75% increase over 2011.
