SFS and related parties heavily depend on gold. So the impact on SFS will be higher with their comparatively lack of ability to absorb a hit.
Why they advertise for deposits, while gifting gold? This imply they run short of deposits.

But share price moving upward???

Good point. I checked the balance sheets of finance companies as at 31.12.2012 with their 31.03.2012 position relating to Pawning.
Found the following increases in Pawning stock.

TFC = Rs 637 Million increase (stock balance Rs 1.664 B)
SFS = Rs 516 Million increase (stock balance Rs 3.671 B)
CSF = Rs 140 Million increase (stock balance Rs 154 M)

Data is not readily available for the other finance companies due to absence of notes.

about 1.8mill shares traded and 9% up (30 cents) Shocked

regardless of the gold price drop.
may be just because its the CSE Razz

Yes. think this may hit 4 tomorrow. Anyway a sudden interest(at least to dispose) has been created, and market will carry on.

My broker checked with me, whether I like to reverse a sale that i did on 16 4 2013 @3.60 of SFS if I like, coz some one in bart???? has mistakenly hit buy button with a big volume of SFS, of which my lot was also a subset. this could be one reason for today's act....! just for your information...! Shocked

Sorry! if I mislead any...! I didn't purchase, I was just waiting to sell around 15K shares. And sold, and that my lot was also gone to that guy who said mistakenly pressed buy BUTTON instead selling his shares... thats what I was told buy my broker! scratch

Someone mistakenly hit buy at 3.6 think he is saying he sold his lot to that buyer. Broker asked whether he wanted to reverse his sale as it was mistake.

SFS probably has the highest exposure at CSE for gold pawning as the main business.

Gold price drop should effect the major banks too. They also in to pawing precious metal. Don't you think?

Not all banks are exposed that much only certain banks...not sure which ones though....but gold bubble round the corner yesterday alone significant drop...but today CB governor asks everyone to buy gold Smile

saying gold has come down and looks attractive ....I think it will drop further.

What are your thoughts on Gold and it's last few days crash and it's impact to CB, Financial Companie and Banks.

"SFS GOLD gifts" could it be they wanted to dupe customers by getting rid of their gold deposits in exchange for cash deposits. specially in a environment where gold might drop to 1150 to 1250 level?

basically reducing customers over all gain.?

What are your thoughts on recent Gold Crash and short Term impact on CB, Finance Compnaies and Banks .

SFS Gold Gifts- Could it be that they duped customers in to depositing cash giving Gold as gifts with a low FD interest rate , thereby reducing customers over all gains. considering Gold is tipped to move in to 1150 and 1250 range (speculative) but since cyrpus and other European countries might also sell off this might be the case. Then customers left with Gold at reduced value. Unless it picks up in the long term...but many are predicting gold to gradualy come down since it's 12 year continuous increase.

Up for discussion !!!
