"Almost all our revenues are coming from Sri Lanka now," Sunshine Holdings Group Managing Director Vish Govindasamy said.
"We want to see some component of our revenues come from overseas.
"Everything we do is Sri Lanka-centric but the government has given an opportunity for sri Lankan companies to go overseas and invest."
The firm has just opened an office in Singapore.
"Now we will start looking what is available and what can be afforded," he said. "We like to focus on core business which is obviously FMCG (fast moving consumer goods), healthcare, power, or plantations.
"So if there is a palm oil plantation somewhere in South East Asia we will probably go and invest."
The firm already grows palm oil in Sri Lanka under Watawala Plantations. With oil import taxes kept high by the state due to protection given to coconut, oil palm is very profitable in Sri Lanka.
