As in previous years the Finance Ministry has called for proposals from the public to be considered in the budget preparations. I for one was not interested in this exercise in the past because the former Treasury Secretary was only interested in generating funds for the fancies of one family such as ego building projects like now defunct Mattala Airport, Hambantota port, opening ceremonies, deyata kirula exhibhitions, elections year around and all corrupt and wasteful projects.
With the new government under the leadership of the Prime Minister and a vision for rapid development of our economy the community in this intelligent forum has an opportunity to put forward our ideas to be implemented for the benefit of the country.
I suggest to the administrators to open up a page for constructive budget proposals editing out nonsense from the negative thinkers so that we could steer the new government on a correct path free of corruption and wasteful policies.

I think we may see some support for exports, Agriculture and food, Tea Plantation, infrastructure, education and capital market development etc from this budget as they are very important sectors in the economy.

I too agree that the budget should target these sectors. But as proposals for the upcoming  budget I suggest,
a) tax incentives for exporters of innovative products (not the traditional}, such as export of canned jack (waraka).
b} Producing corn flakes in our country as we have enough corn (bada iringu) so that it can be given at a competitive price and reduce imports.
c) tax and duty concessions for companies introducing luxury public transport so that private vehicles on the roads can be reduced increasing efficiency and reducing fuel consumption.

Sri Lanka started first steps in budget for 2016 by presenting the 'Appropriation Bill' known as the first reading.

Firstly should work out a plan to complete fruitful projects like kerawalapitiya-kadawatha OCH asap. Should give approval go ahead with port city. Otherwise nonsense with late approvals. Investors are not like to held projects.
Make a climate to forighn and local investors to invest super quality stock market by introducing BOI companies and other heavy forighn exchange erarning companies like LOADSTAR,IT BPO's,MAS, Hirdaramani, Damro, Ceylon biscuits Ltd, Malliban, Daya group... lot of companies.Give them a confidence to grow
with CSE.
Otherwise no value for investors to go behinde companies like pchh, pcp, twod, cifl... lot of companies in cse.
