Speaking to Daily News Business yesterday he confirmed handing over his resignation from March 7 and cited conflict of interests as the cause for his sudden decision.
With the decision to leave the group, Perera has also resigned from the post of Managing Director of Royal Ceramics and from the boards of Hayleys, Haycarb, Amaya Leisure,The Kingsbury, and Talawakelle Plantations.“I decided to resign from all the businesses of Dhammika Perera after 15 years of working relationship. I thought of concentrating on my own businesses and looking at my future because I have two grown up sons and they are returning after overseas education by end of this year,” Perera said.
Perera said he will mainly focus on capital market operations, manufacturing and trading activities in the future.
Perera joined the Board of Pan Asia Bank as a Director in September, 2007. He was appointed as the Deputy Chairman in March 2008 and in April, 2012 was appointed as the Chairman of Pan Asia Bank. He also serves as a Director in several public quoted companies headed by Dhammika Perera.
