Yes. Sampath should not charge RS. 20 for cashier withdrawals. Because when you withdraw cash from ATM, most of the time it gives RS 5000 notes. Then you have to go and wait to change RS. 5000 notes at cashier. They should introduce a method to withdraw money according to customers requirments.

They employed girls and boys to go after customers near teller machines and registered them for FREE SMS service.
Each time a transaction done , a SMS is sent to mobile phone, free of charge.

Now they have registered enough people for the service and started charging 1 Rupee per SMS.
Each time a transaction done 1 rupee is going to them.
Just 10 Free SMS per Month !

Discreditable actions taken by large private banks in the country. Correction measures immediately are to be taken before tarnishing banks image further.

I THINK IT IS A GOOD MOVE..THE CURRENT TREND OF THE BANKS ARE CUTTING OFF THE STAFF AND INTRODUCING DIGITAL BANKING FOR THE PUBLIC. THIS MAY COURSE BAD EFFECT FOR THE BANK FOR SMALL TIME. BUT FOR A LONG TERM, CUSTOMERS GET FAMILIAR WITH ATM MACHINES, DEPOSIT MACHINES, INTERNET BANKING AND OTHER ELECTRONIC BANKING SERVICES...

Introducing digital banking facilities is good. but at the same time trying to get unfair benefits from that is the bad thing. There is no benefit from Internet banking for a customer who is doing 1 or 2 transactions  per month but paying for maintain online banking. but what they try to do is collect that fee from every person by promoting it to everyone. then if you want to deactivate it you have to go to bank & write letters. There are lot to improve in services that  banks provide

Sampath should not charge SMS Annual fee & per SMS fee both. I think Annual fee is enough. They are trying to show high profits. Their loan interest rate from a fixed deposit is also high. Normaly gap should be 2%. But they charge 3.25%.

I think rational for these charges is to discourage people to use branches to withdraw money. What the bank wanna do is set ATM withdrawal machine everywhere and other means(E-wallet) for customers to use there savings as they wish to. Govt is encouraging them to move towards a more digitization system. That's why govt is not stepping up against banks about these charges.
It's a win for the Bank so they dont have to spend so much to set up branches which will incur them lot of initial cost and recurring cost also. Maintain a branch, paying teller and other employees salaries. By pushing customers towards ATM and E withdrawal, banks are saving up tonne of cash in the medium run. Short run cost of setting up ATM machine will be high but within several months cost will be justifiable.
