You looks over confident my dear. Today's momentum, tomorrows will not be there. That is the problem these days. There will be a heavy resistant at 11.50. To penetrate this you need massive volume. All will depend on the strength of the market. Very few share maintain the momentum like CSF and BRWN. For MARA even I'm bit hesitate to enter at this level.

Dont enter now.... this is the selling time... i told mara month ago and you had a chance collect it below 10.50...

They say, "will' use the money to buy seafront lands hoping to sell them to the hotel developers later and make profit.

I do not know much about this strategy. Hence I did not buy EAST at 10 but bought MARA @ same price few months ago . (MARA also gave any number of rights you wanted at 10 and it is a functioning hotel, under modernization at the moment.)

Although EAST may go upwards time to time there is a chance to move back around 10 because there are many people who got many EAST @ 10 last month.
BTW, their NAVPS is above MKT value according to their notification.

Some members may have known the general behavior of some shares from monitoring closely for a long time.
We have to appreciate them if they like to share their views through PM or Main forum.
All know the Way, but few actually walk it.

Personally, EAST might not be the best stock to buy in the market out there, but it is certainly undervalued. I believe it should be trading a few rs higher at least (close to 15 or 16).

They have a growing portfolio of rental income (warehouses, yard, Cement factory or something to store cement). They are also going to incorporate some of the families' private businesses into the EAST umbrella (Radio towers, Radio 1 and TV 2). This would boost the balance sheet more and not to mention the added rental revenues.

They are starting construction for their hotel in Weligama soon as well. The property is very large and will be a pioneer hotel in that bay area which lacks anything significant except for maybe Weligama Bay Resort.

They have a small investment portfolio which has seen them make very good capital gains in the past (CFIN) and will do so in the future. They are one of the biggest shareholders in OSEA (check financial statements) and may look to cash out when OSEA has another run.

Nothing I said here is definitive but it is somewhat my analysis and what I've heard. As a trader, I have been picking up small quantities over the last few weeks at very low prices.

Last time I was down south I did spend one night in Weligama (the bay resort) and asked the hotel about the neighboring lands and who's acquired it. That's how i found out and saw it for myself...It's big!

Regarding actual construction, I was told, that the groundwork will commence soon (month or two) so have to wait and see.

In terms of boosting the balance sheet, this is also rumors on the grapevine. Whether it happens or when is anyone's guess. So please be wary of that. I just wanted to share the information.

If I am not mistaken, purpose of the right issue was to go for a hotel project. Better to hold it for long term investment.

In fairness, his comment could have been from a trader's perspective as opposed to a fundamental reasoning like what is the more common denominator in this forum.

If you take the stance that the market will be green tomorrow as well, then it makes sense to enter into EAST below 11 as it is most possible for it to go up:
a) a real estate run (CLND moved a lot, but other companies also saw some buying momentum)
b) General market conditions. People try and plow their money into the next big money maker... this stock has been in decline for a while since the end of last September when it hit peaks of 18rs.
c) Follow trends of similar priced shares like RICH which went up a considerable amount today...

On the other hand, glwking could be right. Points to ponder...

I would pick CIC from your list. It's fundamentally strong. They have announced a dividend too.

EAST may move up due CLND effect.

Though the shares you mentioned went up, I some what agree with glwking. If you can provide the charts that would be better if you are following the trading pattern.
