The Colombo Port City will be a historic landmark economic activity in Sri Lanka which is projected to generate USD 11Bn [13% of current SL GDP of USD 85Bn] to the economy in post completion as per PWC.

1. $ 1.12 Bn invested as of March 2021

2. Port City was declared under the Colombo Administration District in August 2019

3. Three rounds of EIAs with public comments was concluded

4. The Development Control Regulations were approved by the UDA and ready for gazette

6. As of now, 100 Ha of land is ready for Construction

7. Colombo Port City Economic Commission Bill approved by Cabinet for tabling in Parliament

8. Colombo International Financial Centre mixed used project

i. Further $ 1.0 b investment commitment by Project Company post Covid-19

ii. Original conceptual design by SOM, being re-calibrated by CallisonRTKL

iii. Ground breaking during 2H 2021

iv. A transitionary downtown duty-free store will be ready by year end

Thanks for sharing the above information.!

Now BIL have investments in SEYLAN BANK and HNB which are 23% and 9.9% respectively together with LOLC. No other large players in Sri Lanka holds two big banks together. I sense TWO options of this strategic investment in HNB.

1. To INCREASE THE ASSET SIZE and become competitive enough to be in par to apply for COLOMBO INTERNATIONAL FINANCIAL CITY in PORT CITY?

2. Increased the ASSETS and PROFITS aiming to become the NUMBER 1 PRIVATE COMMERCIAL BANK beating COMMERCIAL BANK PLC?

By evaluating the above two options I feel, BIL have a natural advantage paving the way in PORT CITY as BIL have already made investments in Port City. If that is the underlying strategy, then anyways HNB will be sizable enough to beat COMMERCIAL BANK with potential new business in PORT CITY.

All in all, BIL now has even more stronger BALANCE SHEET in terms of increased NAV.

I feel BIL is even becoming so strong as an investment company purely because of GAME CHANGING PORT CITY OUTRIGHT CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS and INCREASED INVESTMENTS in TOP BANKS

I feel some SIGNIFICANT LAND MARK TRANSACTIONS by BIL and LOLC in PORTCITY and MARINA RESIDENCY CONSTRUCTION in the initial phase which ideally should contribute largely to improve the PROFITABILITY of BIL in coming quarters

I personally feel that the PATIENCE is the KEY with BIL if your an INVESTOR.

But if your a TRADER, BUYING and SELLING is possible with every Rs 0.50 cents.

Why the CHINESE FOREIGN MINISTER is going to VISIT for the 3rd time in JUNE 2021?

According to the Daily Mirror, Foreign Minister Yi is expected to undertake an official State visit to Sri Lanka next month.

Foreign Minister Wang Yi will arrive in the country as part of his visit to the region and at a time when the Government is planning to enact the Port City Economic Commission Bill to regulate the affairs of the Port City which is a US $1.4 billion investment by China.
