Addressing a press briefing at the Government Information Department auditorium yesterday on the progress of the 100 day work programme,
The minister said a public servant who is earning the minimum salary of Rs 11,730 would be entitled to Rs 30,040 with the allowances, while a public servant who is earning the maximum salary of Rs 47,515 would be entitled to Rs 72,818 with allowances. He said the public servants would receive another Rs 2,000 salary hike in June, raising the public servants’ minimum monthly salary to Rs 32,040.
“Under the 100 Day programme, we have implemented a programme that directly increases the income of households. By the end of this month, every household will experience a positive change in the income and expenditure gap. We are happy that we have been able to keep our promise in terms of improving the livelihoods of public servants” he said.
“The important fact about this salary hike is that we are doing this by reallocating expenditure already allocated in the 2015 budget.
