Go for MADU. It is undervalued at the moment. I think this is the best time to collect. It will go up once the price band is removed.

Their Net Assert has gone up huge due to revaluation of asserts ( Dara). But their EPS is negative. Not sure how the plantation wage hikes will effect them as Tea companies will be the highest hit.

Having said that MADU can go up in a market like this. It all depends on investor sentiments. Market is not going with basics right now. I have bought lot of fundamental shares which has been stagnating for a long time. Where as junk/speculative shares have gone up which has less fundamentals.

Just some thought .

At the end of major uptrend we will identify the best share in the sector. It all depends on the market situation, their market share, marketing strategy, maintaining quality in their tea, new markets, innovative agri projects, cost cutting methods and self-sufficient in green energy to operate all their tea factories etc.

I did some study on above three companies.

Maskeliya is famous for High grown western tea. I found following link too.

http://srilankastockpicks.deleted.co.nz/2010/04/maskeliya-plantation-st-clairs-bags.html

Madulsima is famous for UVA tea and some tea from Baglawantalwa Region

Uva is perhaps Sri Lanka's most famous tea-producing region.Uva is located in central Sri Lanka, east of other famous tea-producing areas known as Nuwara Eliya and Dimbulla. Uva province  produces black tea with a distinctively sweet flavor and exotic, woodsy aroma that can handle a bit of milk. Some white teas are also produced in Uva.

FInlays’ tea estates in Sri Lanka consist of two companies: Hapugastenne Plantations Limited and Udapussellawa Plantations Limited. There are 18 tea estates, five tea and rubber estates, two solely rubber estates and one coconut estate. Apart from Nuwara Eliya, they all have their own timber plantations.

Major Locations:

• Nuwara Eliya, The famous  hill station, produces high-grown teas known as the ‘champagne’ of Ceylon teas.
•Matale, Close to Kandy, produces medium-grown teas.
•Uva-Udapussellawa produces medium and high-grown orthodox teas.
•Sabaragamuwa (Ratnapura / Rakwana) primarily low-grown, orthodox teas are produced.

All of above companies have reported all time high tea prices for their quality tea in the Colombo tea auction time to time. In addition all of above have timber projects.

As I said we cannot predict the best stocks in the market now itself.. Only thing is we can have is some estimation on the basis of market trend, sector trend and the stage of market. Actually we have to wait at least until end of next year or 2016 to find out best stocks in the market. Because still we haven’t seen meaniful rally in many sectors. So far we had some great rally in Banking and Finance, diversified sectors and selected stocks in production sector. Out of above three, so far UDPL has outperformed other stocks in the plantation sector. In every sector there will be leader including emerging leaders. Will UDPL become emerging leader in the plantation sector in this major uptrend? What about NAMU? Can we find at least second tier emerging leaders in each sector? We should continuously look for some wining stocks. Good luck!
