The 15-month long campaign will cover a range of areas which include a planned advertising campaign targeting consumers, event promotions, and promotional activities for travel agents and proposal-based marketing and promotional activities, said the statement.
At the launch, Sri Lankan ambassador to Japan Wasantha Karannagoda said that Sri Lanka is now one of the safest destinations in the world following the end of terrorism in 2009.
Japanese travelers have shown an impressive increase of 43 percent in 2011 as compared to 2010 and Japanese tourists currently are the highest arrivals from the East Asian region.
Sri Lanka topped its 2011 target of 750,000 tourists in November and is expecting 100,000 more before the end of the year
