Dr. Senthilverl ups Nawaloka stake to 10.8% with Rs. 225 m
High networth but low profile investor Dr. T Senthilverl yesterday increased his stake in Nawaloka Hospitals to 10.8% by picking up around 3.5% holding for over Rs. 225 million. The stake of 10.3% amounts to 152 million shares in Nawaloka. Yesterday the Company saw 62 million of its shares changing hands for Rs. 279 million. Dr. Senthilverl picked up his blocks amounting to around 50 million shares at Rs. 4.50 per share, the price at which it closed yesterday up by 20 cents.
Deals on NDB create
highest turnover
NDB Bank yesterday made the highest turnover of contribution to the market which saw correction to its previously dizzy levels.
Slightly over 1.1 million shares of NDB Bank traded for Rs. 398 million including three crossings of 1 million shares at Rs. 353. It closed at Rs. 354.50, up by Rs. 4. Analysts speculated investor interest to NDB’s planned one into two sub division of shares effective 30 March.
Investors extend toast to Distilleries over Rs. 3 b capital gain
Investors extended their toast to Distilleries as its share price yesterday gained further to Rs. 182.90, up by Rs. 5.70 from the previous close.
Around 1.59 million Distilleries shares traded for Rs. 219 million whilst it peaked to a high of Rs. 186.90.
Distilleries has made a Rs. 3 billion profit from the Rs. 4 billion worth sale of its 28% stake in Lanka Hospitals Corporation to India-Singapore based Fortis Healthcare Global on Friday. On Friday Distilleries share price rose by Rs. 8.
EPF buying into Laugfs
The Employees Provident Fund (EPF) is busy in the Colombo bourse picking up available quantities of Laugfs Gas Ltd. Brokers said that EPF had picked up majority of the non-voting shares of Laugfs traded yesterday whilst previously it had acquired voting shares as well.
Laugfs saw 9.2 million of its non voting shares trading for Rs. 395 million. It closed at Rs. 42, up by 60 cents whilst 3.4 million voting share traded before closing at Rs. 53, down by 10 cents. They had an intra-day peak of Rs. 43.70 and Rs. 53.50 respectively
