According to AFP News: Multiple injuries, but no immediate deaths, were reported from the Pacific coastal area of Miyagi on the main Honshu island, police said according to media, and TV footage showed widespread flooding in the area.

The tsunami warning was extended to the Philippines, Indonesia, Taiwan, the Pacific coast of Russia and Hawaii.

No global effect. Damages confined only to Japan. No effect on the US coast California, Guam and Huwaii Islands. Far East China Taiwan were also spared. Only Japanese economy will have some effects.

Mostly, the car prices will get affected due to this.. I dont think importing of cars will be that easy due to the destruction and disturbance to the normal operations caused by Tsunami...
Japan will be in the path of renovating their buildings, lives for the next couple of months.. Also there will be problems of employment in Japan for SL ppl too..
I dont know to what extent this will adversely effect the whole world as Japan is in many ways adds revenue to its country's development.
