You can add custom defined stock symbols and commission rates.

GOTO Options to add fees.
GOTO DATABASE->STOCK DATABASE to add user defined stock codes and symbols

Then goto Portfolio Management Tab to add entries.

I have requested our technical guys to attach a link of the 'Jstock' website in our side bar so that the members can directly download the software. Looks like it's already done.

Jstock doesnt support the auto update feature for sl stocks. Instead you have to add each stock that you trade in cse manually. I have given instructions in my previous post.

Only when you buy, sell, add cash, receive dividends etc.

You can use only the portfolio management part with jstock for cse.

I did a brief review on the facilities and features available with the 'Jstock' Investment management software.

Findings of the study and how to configure and install are given below.

The first step is to configure the tool according to your requirement.

They are :-

Changing the currency type.
Creating the Portfolio date base. (if you need more than one database could also be created)
Assigning the commission rates for CDS , Broker , CSE etc.
Creating the Stocks Database. - use the user defined option and the create the stock codes you require. (For other world exchanges the facility is provided directly)

Once the above steps are done you are ready to go. Smile

In the Portfolio Management menu option following features are useable.

1. Could record Sold note entries.
2. Could record Bought Note entries.
3. Could record dividend received against the respective stock code.
4. A Tool to mange your cash receipts and payments.
5. It calculates realized profit and paper profit as you enter the sales and purchases.
6. Add a common note to the portfolio and also to each and every sales or purchases entry.
7. Net gain or loss shown for each sale and for each purchase.

8. Powerful graphical facilities

- Investment flow chart with investment and ROI
- Dividend comparison for all stocks – Bar chart.
- Net Gain by each stock – Pie chart

Embarassed

Limitations :

Non-availability of direct connection to CSE servers. ( actually information is picked from Yahoo – Finance)
Non availability of data backup and restore facility.
Confidentiality of information. - Your information is open to the internet . (Ref. Note on Privacy statement from Jstock)
The Stock watch-List , Indicator Editor and the Indicator Scanner presently not working.

Additional features. Commission calculation can be set to manual or in auto mode.

You could use the data on your home PC from office or other location by using Google cloud computing facility. ( This is as per the reading material – Still I didn’t check this in practical terms)

Optionally it supports 25 popular stock markets.

Note on Privacy statement. :- We will never expose your data to third parties. Your personal sensitive information will NEVER be stored : Google password, Chat username, Chat password etc.

Conclusion :- It was stable and worked well on my Windows 7 PC along with other software.
It has a brief online Help system which is easy to use/navigate.
Its powerful software and comes with free price tag.

Systems are good and gaps can be developed.
Question: With the web being the MEGA spy any mediocre investor will get into serious trouble with her / his net worth.

Confidentiality and back up are fundamental criteria for a portfolio management system.
Until this criteria is fully met no one in a proper sense of mind would like to tell the world his true net worth!

Only my opinion as a specialist.

Hybrid_Os : Thanks for highlighting the limitations which I indicated. The two points are the main areas which we cover under Information technology security. If one is using a free (shareware) he/she should be aware of these. The devlopers never include all the menu options in a shareware . And if one needs then whould have to go for fee based software.

The reason to include the said software in our sidebar is to provide alternative option for our members to maintain their portfolio's for periodic appraisals. This is also ideal to maintain virtual portfolios and different buy/sell simulations for performance analysis. This is a free downloadable software and it may have certain limitations as clearly indicated by some members.

As discussed here, I do agree that, it is not advisable to maintain your actual share portfolios in 3rd Party portfolio management software offered by many local and foreign service providers irrespective of their security confirmation.

Currently CDAX and Direct FN offer free portfolio management software together with their order placement software.

For testing purposes I spent about 2-3 Hrs with it and it worked. You may have to try different ways and setup it so that it suits the CSE. For Ex. the com % calculations , you have to set what is available to suit our setup at CSE. At CSe i think there are about 5 com % types . but in the software you have only 3 types if I remember right.
