The Colombo Consumer Price Index fell 0.6 points during August to 176.2 points.
¬¬The food and non-alcoholic beverages sub-index fell 0.8 percent and the non-food items rose 0.1 percent, the state statistics office said.
The prices of several imported foods have also eased amid a falling India rupee, and the state has upped import taxes.
But Sri Lanka's rupee has also started to depreciate.
