When we talk about companies we should pay attention to Value, EPS, Assets, ROE, Balance sheet, impact of lower interest rate, lower interest expenses, investment, demand for products and services, debt level and temporary factors etc.
Have an estimate on future earnings at least for next two years to five years.

Some companies with terrible earnings could become turnaround companies in the future. You can make bundle. .

Company start as small and then it becomes big.

Some can stagnate around one to six years while having volatility. After that once companies started to generate income they beat all others.

Today’s worst performers may become tomorrow’s top performers.

Bull may start next month, next quarter, in the second half of this year, in 2015 or 2020. How can we tell exactly? So we should pick businesses not stocks

Out of above five want to do some study on both TAFL and AEL. Also we need to analyse at least next three years of earnings, their markets, demand plus all the future earnings. When there are lot of value stocks no time to study all the stocks. Really I want to study SHL too. Will you add some link? Look like you have good ideas about above five. Do you want to share? I read some peoples in forums. My apology if I write like them and not I am copying like others and paste.

Dear VALUEPICK
I didn't go into details of each stock I mentioned since we had few good articles by our senior members on TOKYO,LIOC,AEL and SHL. You can refer this forum as a text book.
About TAFL, there is a on going article. I think TAFL will do well in the coming quarters as they have turned their business into a profitable one, especialy with their exports.

And it's nice to see members does not get attack by admins or seniors when we talk about stocks (without much explanations) but I think we need all those committed members back in the forum. so if new management can find a way to bring them in ,we all will be benefited .

I would like to include TYRE in to the list as its price has appreciated well from the time i purchased. It has further potential to improve performance in coming Qtrs. The justification that this well perform in future is

- It produces 50% of the countries tyre requirements
- Invested 950mn to expand in to other tyre segments, which would increase their revenue and mkt share
- Increased capacity by 30%
-Falling rubber prices , which can improve margins

Good Luck

Celtic Tiger refers to a rapid real economic growth fueled by foreign direct investment of IRELAND during 1995 to 2005 .

It looks like different market players like different types of stocks now. To my surprise even we can see base building in some out of favour stocks as well.

If you want to buy some stocks which types of following stocks you will like most?

Today’s laggards
Blue chips
Possible turnaround companies
Values stocks
Growth stocks
Value stocks with growth potential
Small and mid cap only
Large cap only
Market leaders only
Speculative shares

Thanks in advance

But the issue is in same bussiness we can find success stories and failures. We can see that even the banks results are different to each oter even though play in te same field.
Also one can argue based on the high risk and high return. In the longer run survivor of the most effected sector will be valued more than that of the success company of a well managed sector.

So i go for a stock than the bussiness. My personal view..

All the best for your small and mid cap choice.

Companies start as small later they become big.

Could we have opportunity in undervalued out of favour, stagnated, fallen angles, and illiquid stocks next? I think so. What are the good value shares available in these categories according to your study? Thanks

Tyre is a good one. Did anybody study about CIC? They made losses in the last quarter around -4. Still their share prices went up from around Rs.45 to Rs.67/-. During quarter ending 30/06/ 2014 they managed to make profits. How do you see their growth in the coming years? What type of crops they grow in Sri-Lanka? Thanks

Rather replicate the index as your portfolio because index is doing very well and certainly on long run it will do well. Ultimately ee are putting money in equity to beat inflation and keep the purchasing power of money
