Fire in hotel after President exits

A fire had broken out at the Eden Hotel in Beruwala yesterday (27), soon after President Mahinda Rajapaksa who was attending a wedding took his leave. Police Media spokesman, SSP Ajith Rohana said the fire had occurred soon after the President left the hotel after signing as one of the witnesses at the wedding.

"The fire occurred in a bathroom in the third floor of the building. The President attended a function held in the ground floor," he explained.

Police have sought the assistance of the Government Analyst to conduct further investigations in order to find out the cause of the fire. No one had been injured.

I think EDEN is recently opened after refurbishment .
According to annual report, before the temporary closure of 2012/13 it had a profit of 211 Mn.
EPS of 4.01
According to 2013/14 Annual report Net Asset Value for share is 48.27.
Current Price is around Rs 28/=
Fundamentally its value stock for this price.
The hotel acquired Dicwella Resorts.
EDEN has taken 1.5 Bn loan from seylan bank for the refurbishment .
i have no idea about stories behind this stock.

Is LOLC leisure going to build any hotel in recent future?

EDEN is slowly creeping up unnoticed by many.
price went from Rs 28 to Rs 31.50 in 4 days time.
Good volumes being traded.
People worried about rights issue .
Any news ?

Rights are always issued at a discounted price ( from the Market price ) to exiting share holders.

at the moment eden is traded at 22/-, and they have announced the " rights " at 20/- and the proportion is 1:1.

I think the pricing is too high (irrespective of the real value/nbv )

the proceeds goes to settle the existing debt

is this issue is under written by any one or by LOLC ( the parent company )?

will it affect the exiting / future share price ?

will this issue be approved by CSE ?

now a days " right issue " are looking like fresh " new listings "

should the relevant authorities look into these matters and put the things right ?

Yes. In recent past all right isses were over prices and lot of small investor loose their money. Eg CSF, CITW, DPL, JINS, and now EDEN.
DPL is much better with compaired to other companies. However I strongly believe that CSE should strictly monitor the whether issue prices fair to existing share holders or not.

Only renuka and Sanasa right issue was attractive during last yr. don't buy EDEN, after rights it will drop down to 10 to 13 level. For them to make turnaround will take lot of yrs.

If any one wants to keep the Eden hotel in their portfolio then it is best to sell now at these prices of 19-20 and buy it after the rights issue at a very lower price., (provided the right issue go ahead with the cse approval with the same terms )

don't buy rights for EDEN ... beware of lolc group companies right issue and shares ..BIL,BRWN destroy heritage company under LOLC...

Yes .Lolc bought companies at lower price and dilute their stake to a certain level by means of unjustifiable rights issues.Recently palm garden also had a same issue.
Exactly beware of LOLC companies.

please exercise CAUTION.

it will not work like you think because of the following reason;

1) already the share price in the market is 18/- ( less than the rights price )
2) proposed right issue price is at 20/-
3) ratio of rights is 1:1

considering those points the share capital will double that means the number of shares also will double.
that in turn make this share very much liquid there for more supply less demand, there for the price will only fall in my humble opinion.

only good thing is that they say they are going for this rights to repay the loan outstanding. this will in turn make this company interest expenses lesser in the coming year hence less overheads.

I would think as it is, this is a long term stock if this rights issue go ahead as planned.

(however may be LOLC might do a magic later by some announcement. we do not know at this point of time )

this is my view. I have sold my holdings as soon as I heard this news way back in September.

this is my own opinion only. please discuss with your friends

buy and wait until right dates announced. Also month of December is the peak season for tourist. So their last quarter earnings should be increased .In addition to that most of companies among top 10 share holder list including EPF, ETF. So we can keep trust about this share. You never lose with this share if you buy this for current price.

If the right wants to sell, share must be above 20. So they have to raise the price unless poeple will not buy shares because they can buy from market than Right!!!!

So we have to think but with or without reasons EDEN must move up.
