I believe as market is going to reach next stages in the coming months and quarters it is wise to prepare for next winning sectors and stocks. This bull market has more legs. We all know some sectors and stocks specially banking and finance and diversified sectors and production and construction sectors have outperformed other stocks so far. Normally major uptrend begins from the banking sector and later it spread to other sectors in the CSE.

Shall we disuses stocks other than diversify banking and finance sector and production in this thread? What would be the most favourable industries in the coming financial year?

Thanks and good luck!

TKYO will be one of the best performers in the short term.

Last chance to buy.

No doubts on TKYO.

Echanneling - with their virtual business model, cost of sales & Overheads are minimum. They are reknown for high div percentage, like 85 cents for 14.50 share. With results coming this will reach 17.50 easily.

BFL, TAFL - this 2 for DEC XMAS season

VFIN - I think this will be excellent share simply looking at their business model. When you come in road just notice car sales....every where you see the Valibel red banner. Punchi car...etc they have opened up small mini branches. To be very honnest I havnt seen any other finance company as aggressive and moving at ground level ad VFIN.I like their bussiness model.

RICH & EXPO - These 2 cant silent for too long

LOLC - too good player to be neglected

PABC , UBC - with all other banks reaching 100. These 2 cant be staying at 24.

UDPL - this has the best EPS on plantation sector. Finlay is having more than 90% of holding. With free float deadline of DEC by CSE, they have to open up more for public.

Need to add COCR also to my list.
I expect at least 550 million plus profit in this quater with exceeding 1 Billion profit for the year. With takeover on TFIL they should get good into good consolidation level.

Can't value a company with NAV.It's the floor value. Companies are valued on it's future earnings potential.
EX- CTC
NAV 27.91 & Price 1,150 (is it a manipulated price-No)

NEST
NAV 57.16 & S/Price 2,100

So what matters is earnings. Dividend also matters when the company doesn't have any identified projects in the future which has positive NPV.

If new projects are available to invest should expand the business rather than paying Dividends.

Thank you for your responses and sharing ideas. I am looking for new opportunities after cutting losses in few stocks while keeping future winners. I have noticed you all have some special ability to pick some stocks before others. If we select stocks like that we can ignore charts, short term volatility, market pauses and pullback.

Few of your stocks have appreciated by more than 100% in this major uptrend. It is quite a good achievement. You all are winners in the primary stages. When third and final stage reaches it will be different ball game. I know still you all will become winners. Stay with your strategy. As every sector has risk and returns it is wise to do some home work on that. Some risks are very short term. Similarly some returns also are short term.
.
I know some of you had stocks such as KVAL and LFIN. I bought few stocks after reading some comments. One really worked well for me. We will be great winners if we can keep at least one or two fast appreciating stocks in this major uptrend. During next 12 months we will be able to find few of these types of stocks.

It is the time to do the necessary diligence of new holdings and not chasing everything that comes up is something that I want to be more disciplined.

Finally I think we should follow all of above companies not only during next stages of market but also during next five years. We cannot get great returns by following one or two quarters.

All the best for successful investment and trading in the stock market!

The key factor here is only dividend. As i mentioned my above post. The key is return on equity (m/value of equity) which goes in line with P/E. When the P/E is low ROE is higher. So high demand for that share.

Ex- NESTLE DIV yield 2.83% & COCR div yield @ the price the dividend declared 2.38%.

So.If looking at industry P/E COCR should be at least 60/-.

Agree with windi5. All the good shares have reached a peak. At current values EPS and NAV seem to be marginal. With the Holiday season foreign buyers will definitely take a rest and before they do they might take their profits. Its better to wait if you are new player or take profits if you are already there now and get in if there is a dip before the holidays.

The reason that NEST, CTC has a very high PBV is because they always give over 95% of profits as dividends. Sometimes 100% or more. So the calculation will always say a very high PBV.

On the other hand, Return on equity and ROI will always show very high values due to the effects of the same aspect.

So do not give too much prominence to both of these aspects (PBV or ROE&ROI) for NEST and CTC (or similar stocks where almost all of profit is paid back to shareholders every year).

By the way, these will be superstars in the longer term - specially NEST Smile

if quarterly results is better at least EPS 0.5 it will touch 25 otherwise it may come (if record a loss) down. There is a possibility to record a good profit as they now own 93% (Earlier they had 53%) of SAT which is the most profitable company of Greg.

Thank you all for discussing more stocks.

Mainly this market had demand for growth stocks and accordingly their prices appreciated lot. Their value has extended now. We may see rally in value stocks and momentum stocks (some say these stock as speculative shares) next in this major up trend. Some out of favour sectors and stocks could become favourable stocks and sectors in the coming quarters and during next financial year. Actually some stocks have frozen now and trade in small quantity except in overcrowded stocks. They should become active sooner than later when other stocks start to freeze. It is time look for non crowded winning stocks in the coming quarters. Recently there were minor reactions for some stocks due to short term factors. As this not a bear market those stocks should bounce back strongly at any moment.

Good luck!

Whilst Mangala Samaraweera and Ravi Karunanayake to looking at options to join MR Regime amidst speculation that is on the rife that former 'Big Lady' Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumarantunga (CBK) is looking at her cards of entering in to Politics again on January Elections...it is now anticipated and market circles are getting ready to hunt for more Harry Jayawardena stocks such as Distilleries (DIST), AHUN, SPEN (Aitken Spence) and Hatton National Bank and DFCC and Commercial Bank....whilst some are of the view that Lanka Bell will bid Airtel in Sri Lanka or Lanka Bell will merge with Airtel for a possible listing by 2016 amidst a regimal change.

It is discussed the rule on 15% limited ownership of banks by individuals and institutions will be removed and Harry Jayawardena will emerge as the 'Banking Magnate' of Island Nation once again since he has been in the forefront of funding CBK regime in 1994. However Consolidation of Banking Sector will go ahead whilst Harry led consortium will be controlling Sri Lanka's Private Sector Licensed Commercial Banks under CBK regime if it comes to power in 2015.Also many emerged Balapitiya and Matara entrepreneurs of Laugfs, Colombo Land including DJ might go off down the drain with the track it seems unless Deputy Finance Amunugama will cross back to UNP.

Also it is anticipated that there might be possible reverse judgement favouring Access group to re-acquire Waters Edge that will shoot up Access Engineering shares from coming February 2015 in case CBK leads UNP and all Ceylinco group shares failure story will go under rugs and that Lalith Kotelawala will be back in market with awe whilst Sicille Kotelawala will return from United Kingdom via Singapore.

However it seems stock brokers are collecting back CBK favourite stocks before December since they can sell quantities to Harry Jayawardena and consortium if there is a regimal change.

Actually we had some sell off in the latter part of November and some were able to pick stocks at a great discount prices than previous months. Some short term players had to cut losses. We cannot win all the times in the stock market. Therefore it is better to have strategy and shouldn’t chase stocks blindly unless we know the industry, trend and great value.  Do you thinks is it wise to collect stocks in December?  However after recent selloff there is some more value in the market especially in some sectors and stocks. Therefore mid and long term investors can find some value stocks which are trading great discount to the market now. In addition, on valuations stocks prices should go up.  As long as major uptrend is intact stock prices continually will go up while having selloff, market pause and pullback.
