Economic cooperation Agreement (CEPA = ECTA) between Indian and Sri Lanka to bring huge benefits to Sri Lanka according to officials who explained it to representatives of Professional Organizations.
Combined Prof.Org. action group and Development Strategies and International Trade Minister Malik Samarawickrama and his officials had a discussion regarding CEPA / ECTA recently.
To release the details of this meeting to public and to discuss other matters the action group held an awareness session at the Institute of Engineers , Sri lanka (IESL) 20th this month.
Initially the two countries are going to open up IT sectors and welders jobs to Indians. Thereafter they will consider all other listed job categories included in the agreement. ( almost every important sectors are included in the list)
As per the Ministry officials Sri Lanka is going to get remarkable benefit after this agreement.
The main benefit of proposed Indo-Lanka trade agreement -given by our Ministry is- huge reduction of prices of almost all manufactured Items . Entire nation will get huge relief because the prices will be much less.
Unable to understand how this happens, how prices of our manufactured items go down drastically due to this trade agreement, the members of our professionals (mainly in Engineering, IT and Medical fields) requested an explanation from big economic pundits of the Ministry.

Population in India 1.3 Billion (65 times )
An item manufactured for 1.3 billion means mass production. Thus unit cost is very low.
If the same item manufactured for 20 million means very small scale compared to 1.3 billion population. Thus unit cost will be much higher.
So so my dear friends our extra brainy top guns believe and teaching us that after free trade agreement items manufactured in mass scale will be available to all Sri Lankans and they will enjoy a great relief due to very low living cost.
