Looks like BRWN is going to make a return to its pre Financial levels of 395 ~ 400...but cant it go even further that levels & reach 600 or 700 this time...as per its EPS

Annualized EPS 29
Sector PE if we take as 22
Then 29 x 22 = 638/-

isn't this correct...?

then today is JUNE 17th and only 09 more working days for the end of 1st Quarter of 2011 so I guess BRWN can hit xxx if todays momentum is to keep going on next week too...! Very Happy

Correct.. Last Qtr results of BRWN didn't look good.. We had high hopes though. May be in this qtr they can live up to our expectations, we can see a price hike..

Technically, Bollinger ranges are approx. Hi=400, Lo=309.
BRWN has already fallen below the support range 309-314 and closed @ 338.
MACD is down, Stochastics - oversold and coming up

If you can buy around 310-311 ur lucky..Also if we can see another white candle I think we can call it a bull, but I'm not sure as still the trend seems bearing..
All depends on the Monday trading and the highs it makes and the prices it goes..

Also BRWN has formed an ascending triangle pattern which i s bullish indicator..
So many indicators show different signals and its very difficult to make a decision but this triangle formation is somewhat good.. Better watch the pattern on Monday to decide..

Agree. I also observed that, this is one of the fastest recovering shares. I placed a small order that was unsuccessful. ...That is one of the actual and practical ways to feel buying pressure.

BRWN 1Q2011http://www.cse.lk/cmt/upload_report_file/764_1306838541659.%20PLC-31.03.2011.pdf

GROUP Profit for the period 144.06 Millions PROFIT

Attributed to;
Equity Holders of the company -459.96 Millions LOSS---------Group EPS -6.49
Miniority Interest .................. 604.02 Millions PROFIT

This is bit rare situation, where the minioriy share holders of the group enjoyes huge profit, while major share shareholders incurred a loss. Is this possible????

Yes. When PROFIT reported by one/or more entities which have substantial miniority interest (e.g. Browns & Co. owned only 51%) while huge LOSS reported by entities which are having no or less miniority shareholders (e.g. Browns & Co. owned about 100%-90%).

If this is the case, we have to identified which entities incurred such a huge loss during the 1Q2011. then findout the reasons for that... whether they are recurrent or one-off losses.... etc.
Without knowing facts we should not get panic and decide on sell/buy this fundermental sound stock ... we saw one time SMB Stockbrokers published (before relesing last financials) a research report predicting BRWN value about 680/- in a midiem/long term.

Decleration: I have BRWN in my PF (about 10%) ave. price of 275/-. Therefore my views may be bias.[b]

Technical analysis as well as crowd behavior plays a role. BRWN is a well kmown share for investors...

Last 3 day trading pattern suggest a swing movement.. actually a swing point low.. We could've bought this ard 310 to benefit from an uptrend..
Monday movements will be crucial.. looking to enter? I think 310-325 would be the low levels..
Not a buy decision in any form... this is just a pattern exploration..

once i bought brwn and was on a fixed deposit for about 6 months before moving out of it. I would range brwn as a seasonal share which moves at a season and then goes to sleep like a polar bear.. Smile

To : FactFINDER...................

There is a possible reason/explanation for reporting a loss for the parent shareholders of BRWN as at 31.03.2011. Please correct me if I am wrong.

On 3rd December 2010, Browns Investment (Pvt.) Limited (recent IPO) divested 12,416,966 voting shares of Seylan Bank which they were holding to BRWN. Consideration was Rs. 1,241,696,600/= (Rs. 1.24 Billion). So looking at the statistics the transfer price is Rs. 100/= per Seylan Bank share.

By the end of 31.03.2011 quarter Seylan bank voting share had dropped to Rs. 75/= (as at end of 2011 1st quarter). So what is the unrealized capital loss to BRWN? About Rs. 300 Million. There is your loss.

So BRWN must have recognized this fall in value of investment in SEYB in the Profit and Loss account as a Provision. (mark to market loss of value in investments). I think this has contributed largely to the loss taken by equity shareholders of BRWN.

On the other hand nice profit to Browns Investments.
