I feel you do not need to worry. Coz Jins may declair every year at least Rs. 1/- dividend (based on the dividend paid in the past) And most interesting fact that JINS would be benefited is increasing interest rates . With that their interest income on Large investment would tremendouesly increase and therefore profitability of the Company too should go up.Hence when the market condition come back to normal we can expect JINS too going back to it's previous price level and all who bought at higher price level would be paid back.

There are some shares that appear to be worth much more than their market price; JINS is one of them. I don't know any other share that offers a dividend yield exceeding 8.5% and a healthy P/BV of 1.56.

In such family-controlled businesses, the question to ask is: Is the family honourable? Would you trust them with your money? (So, what's your view on the Shafters?)

Shafters are good...and not tough...

Have you heard frauds taking place under deleted or Harry...

But under shafters we hear frauds from the management time to time...

I am saying employees are not monitored strictly means they have weaknesses in the systems...yet the strategic decisions are really good by the family members...going behind profit than volume , selecting north and east well before others, going for agriculture are good moves...

I commented on this share on several other threads. So let me say this much. Not a buy or sell recommendation.

I don;t know what kind of returns people expect from shares. Some want 20%, 50%, some 100 , some 200% some want it in 3 months.

Some people will think I am crazy, but let me tell you I have still have part of the shares of this company I bought at IPO at RS12 in 2008!. Yes it is trading now less than IPO after 3 years. I am aware.

Am I crazy for not selling everything at RS 22 when it went up? Am I crazy not selling all JINS knowing that the market was coming down. Maybe. It matters of opinion.

But let me tell you why I held the part of it. I got Rs 2 dividend 1 time. Next years I got Rs1 dividend so far. Also I gained some capital selling part when it went to Rs 20+. So far I treated this share like a long term saving account ( dividend % 8-9%). Hopefully they might declare Rs 1 or closer dividend again.

I feel as investors ( not always traders) on a company we buy into, we should not desert it if is still on track and if in trouble due to market condition ( not company issues). JINS is still trading with a PE of 6 and lower PBV. It is attractive. As investors, other than money I think there is some social responsibility. I have got returns from this share (maybe much less than others) , but it my mind it was my low yield fixed deposit/saving account all these years. It gave me something. Unless I am desperate or there is an emergency , I plan to hold this as long term.

I am not asking anyone to do the same . There will be people here who will say to hell with loyalty and low returns as we are here only to make money. Okay.

Anyway , we should mix up , our needs, our targets, our long term, short term , medium term shares. Treat each each on merit. Good investor will identify long term, short term. medium term shares. We need to be investors as well as traders if CSE need to sustain. We should not make it a casino.

Of course there are other share that can bring you higher capital again. IF JINS does not satisfy our needs we do not have to buy it or hold it. This is a share for the very patient.

BTw this can drop further if people panic and market dos down.

ps :Also I see people have issues with the Shafters family shares, as they don;t seem to have confidence in them much.

So far there has been no fraud issues ( uncovered) with JINS. So looking at CSEC/CFVF and putting JINS in the same boat just based on that fact it unreasonable I think. JINS is the 3rd largest insurance company in Sri Lanka.

dear slstock

I fully agree with you...there were no frauds so far at jins.... and also i got enough gains from kshastriya (csec) , cfvf and kotmale ...

I just mentioned only one reason they lack as a family company...JINs is a good share..but the price may slightly come down..

I've brought this up before but I'm reworrying about it now.

No dividend despite showing profitable results in last financial statement.

Also the due day to submit June quarter results is over and still no financial results.. Can anybody shed some light?

Do companies that reports bi-annually have a different time limit to produce their June six months results from other companies that report quarterly?

I think today and maybe tomorrow also counts within the stipulated period ( need to double check).

They have declared dividend in the 3 rd quarter before. I don't know of any surprises but since they seems to be having for treasury deposits ( from memory I could be mistaken) their other income might not be horrible.

But this delays is not good, especially for a company who reports only every 6 months

Fingers crossed. Hopefully they will compensate for the wait with something more than the 1/- which was paid last year

The least JINS management can do it to give a good dividend. This share is still trading below IPO after 4 Years!

I found the Shafters to be really greedy over the years..

Janashakthi parent owns the majority of JINS so if Shafters wanna announce a dividend, they'll also collect some JINS at the lower levels, or the collection has already been done slowly???

However this dividend is a highly anticipated one.. The better pay at least 0.80 - 1 rupee now..
