Lately, I have seen a sort of negative sentiment being built up in the Forum; as far as “Foreign” is concerned.

I have just quoted two below to emphasize the point;

http://forum.srilankaequity.com/t15519-a-picture-paints-a-thousand-words#101315

http://forum.srilankaequity.com/t14564-be-careful-when-taking-loans-from-hsc-bank

What could be the reason for this kind of sentiment being built up?

Are we again trying to go back to era of 70 or what?

I am concerned. affraid

The main argument is, Those foreign banks do Unethical Business in Sri Lanka. However there are plenty of international companies who do business here very well in ethical manner.We should facilitate foreign investors efficiently but Should not allow foreigners to Rob our country, They think Sri Lankans are fools.

Do the HSBC or Standard Chartered bank can do such unethical business in countries like Singapore, Hong Kong,Malaysia etc. Then they will kick them out. Evil or Very Mad

Recourse is there for such eventualities but a few only dare to take them up knowing well that many such authorities are just Toothless authorities.

So the problem lies with us and not with the banks in the broader sense.

That is why some of the countries that you have mentioned have prospered and not us.

Downright rejection is not the answer but to get our own house in order.
