We could see that there are many IPO's in the coming months. according to news papers 10 ipos before april 2 being more than 5 billion.

What does this mean.Investors have too many options.too much supply into the market.which may not give return as expected.

I think than IPOs the good fundamental shares could give us more return.what do you guys think ????

interesting question. I am not going to answer cause I am not a fan of IPOs at all. but thanks for starting this thread.

To me. IPO is a sure gain as Sri Lanka is a postwar country & more foreigners are coming in, means more money are coming in too.

first are they IPOs or rather just an introduction?

if they are IPOs then they are raising new money and 10b Rs means a lot considering the total market cap.
so far, bank guarantees have been on the rise which has not reflected the true demand. It is interesting what the SEC has up its sleeve.

On one side, there will be brand new money coming from new investors and also existing investors of CSE. This is good for the market. If existing players sell existing shares to buy from IPOs that's technically something to worry about.
but,
do we talk the same thing when there are rights issues? I don't think so.
Slowly, there have been a vast amount of rights issues and people have been buying warrants from the market too. So I don't think they will hinder the market but should bring more stability.

for your question, I think it depends on the company to be listed. But if any regulations on bank guarantees is passed, then UB might be the most oversubscribed IPO.

not exactly. There is a net outflow of foreign money from the market. Has been that way for about an year. The subject has been discussed in several threads.

New IPO's will be looked upon with some skeptism due to prevailing investment climate and market conditions.

Small time retailer investors are as usual paniky and salvaging what ever they could for fear and lack of certainity in the CSE.

In India it is very difficult for new IPo's to break through the negative sentiment and in many instances the prices drop sharply immediately after an IPO. That doen't give any confidence to the investors whatsoever.

Union Bank IPO can be likened to a "Demonstration IPO" where it hit a all time record of 225 times over. But you may not get a repeat of the like for quite some time.

Over the next few weeks the difference between "Boy Investor" and "Man Investor" will be easily distinguished by the way the each investor surfs the CSE.
The best thing one can do is do the analysis of companies during this period and enjoy some fun.

No investment is risk free

What i possbly see this year, would be a fllod of IPO & share issues. The market for the whole year could remain flat or moderately positive while lots of new issues dominating the market movements. Like what we see already.

i really think companies using the mentality of the investors to get a return free financing.companies who would never get even over subscribed may be oversubscirbed heavily due to the prevailing conditions.we have to be selective in the ipos as well.

money draining out could actually halt the normal function of the CSE. people keep on applying Ipos ipos ipos.the next moment the shares issued into the cse the shares will not move up since the other crowd too is waiting to go for the next IPO and no one to buy at big prices. this is a cyclic effect which i feel is going to kill the cse.
