CPC Board resigns; new Chairman appointed

A new Board of Directors and Chairman have been appointed to the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) due to four members including the Acting Chairman resigning, the Ministry of Petroleum Industries said today.

The new Chairman of the CPC Tilak Collure and Director Board members Susantha Silva, Hans Wijesuriya and Nalin Pathikirikorale were appointed by Petrolium Minister Susil Premajayantha today (Aug 10).

Acting Chairman Dayananda Vidanagamachchi and Director Board members Lakshman Gunawardena, Methsiri Abeygunawardena and Champika Amarasekara have resigned, the Ministry said.

Review of policy & procedures is must from scratch with strong & independent internal audit. Operational process is to be designed & monitored in such a way to correct the any deviation from standard at the shortest time. Let the chairman & board of directors be responsible jointly & severally for any losses arisen from malpractices. Keep the invisible & dirty political hands at distant to recover accumulates losses.....

Many frauds happened, Some boards were resigned, some remained shamelessy, Some got promotions, Some got Diplomatic Service jobs. But unfortunately no one was prosecuted and no one went to jail so far.General Public has to bear the burden. This is what is called "Lack of Accountability". This is applicable to entire government sector.

I think making them to resign is itself a punishment but the problem is, Is it adequate ?

On the otherhand atleast we can be happy that they have not been promoted but demoted.Corruption,bribes etc can not be eliminated in forthnight.

No board either new or brand new will be able to perform as we expect them to perform under the present circumstances. Take for example the undue influence being exerted on the CSE to fall in line with politically influencial few manipulators. This is called paper magic. All is done at the top and when exposed board has to pay for the sin. Minister is good for run a Montessori not CPC who acts like thoththa baba!
