I am a lover of PLC.N000 at the moment due to many reasons.

**PLC issued share price is Rs. 18 per share and current selling price is Rs. 11. Therefore the current price is very attractive
**PLC dividend payout is attractive. PLC paid Rs.1.00 as dividend at the last financial year.
**PLC is the no.1 leasing company in Sri Lanka
**PLC is planning to register the company as a Specialized Fiance Company in the future
**Even though we are going through a difficult time in the financial sector PLC has done well as per their recent 6 month report.

Regarding PLC.N, they gave a dividend of .50 Rs around December just after being listed around September (?). I kind of suspect that there is a possibility that they'll announce another interim dividend soon. This one could be be inbetween January and December announcements... Note that we don't have a dividend history for PLC.N so we can't completely rule out the possibility of 3 dividends a year... after all, people's bank need to pull out dividends from PLC.N on a regular basis... if PLC.N earns 2Rs per-share per-year, wouldn't it make sense for them to issue 1.50 Rs per year as dividend? Suspect

I sold half of my PLC.N stock during these few days (thinking this uptrend won't survive that long), but if they issue another dividend.... it would push the price up... making me a bit sad about letting go at the wrong moment.... Razz

@bestofluck: Sorry, I wasn't talking about the fiscal year indeed. Let's say 3 dividends per 12 months.... that's what I suspect... (just a speculation)

RENU, CIT, CABO, JINS & CTLD (not necessarily in that order).

Interesting point but I guess your notion links with illquidity also.
One issue is , just like the way up , it can come down faster in panic.
So I guess knowing a bit about the company also might help if for an
investment. But if for short term , I guess one can play with the
illquids if they know what they are doing.

COCR - Micro Finance is thrilling.. Good prospects in 2-3 years time for this company.

VONE, RICH - Diversified and well structured. VONE will have a bit of problem with revenue coming in from LFIN due to vehicle tax hike but they have other fish to fry Wink

CDB - Recently joined the VISA network and in a position to issue Internationale valid VISA cards IMO.. Growth rates has also been good when I checked last time.

If anyone wants some good companies to select in Finance sector, I suggest them to have a look at the companies into micro finance sector..
