Yahoo's struggles since then have exasperated investors because the company makes most of its money from advertising, and marketers have been pouring more into the Internet. Most of those dollars, though, have been flowing to Google, the Internet's search leader, and Facebook Inc., the Internet's social networking leader. Mayer was one of Google's top executives for 13 years before defecting to Yahoo for a compensation package valued at $59 million.[u]

According to above article which published in Yahoo finance today Her Compensation package is around Rs. 650m per year and it gives around Rs. 55m per month. Please clarify if i am wrong.

I'm not too sure who gets the highest paid around the world. But recently I met a Sri Lankan doctor in the UK and she mentioned that there's a one Sri Lankan doctor in colombo gets paid a staggering 8 million per month..! which I never heard before.
She is also looking forward to go n work in private sector hospitals in CMB. I think private sector hospitals offer good packages for consultants.

8 million a month? That about $60000 a month ? That is the highest I heard regarding a paid job in Sri Lanka.

I think only a few manage to earn that much but very very rare.

Don't show these figures to our companies.
Currently husbands owning 20% of the shares are making their wives CEO of the company. Imagine if these joker learn about the yahoo pay packages?

Then he must be a senior Surgeon or some one performing some special or major surgeries to earn such a good amount, all Doctor's can't get such earning, but as far as I know, Sri Lanka is one of the lowest paying country for Consultants, One of my friend in government hospital, get only around 50 000 as basic salary and some allowances . This amount is similar to a wages of a driver in some reputed firms, but our closest neighborhood Maldives paid him 7000 $ with all facilities and recently recruited him as a contract basis Consultant there.

USA Per capita income is around $ 40,000 ? So per month it is around $3500.

Sri lanka Per capita income is around $ 3000 ? SO per month $ 250 means only Rs. 32500.

But we have few fellows like Dr. Hanse , Mr, Dian Gomas who earns much more than this. Around 150 times of 32,500 . So in UK even we can expect $ 45,000 for exceptional people. For top consultants for multinationals will defa go for this category may be with Private jets and company share schemes.

In the book of Mr. Peter Welch ( Former CEO of GE ) says he paid US$ 9 m as the bonus for a one employee in 1990 due to his exceptional performance at GE capital. It is at 1990.............
So these figures are not miracles in abroad. When compare with cost of living at sri lanka we need to reduce the scale to compare figures.

Lol

Private hospitals do not pay such fee's to consultants in Sri Lanka. It is the consultants who charge such fee's as consultations from patients, both admitted and channel.

I do not know figures but 8.0 million value is very possible if you see how they charge and the number of patients they have.

In my opinion poor trainee doctors and medical officers work for peanuts while the top eats 99% of the cream!

Cheers!

Rapaport ,
It is like this machan,

Specialists are the people who go for lectures until they re 35. They go by buses when they are 25-28 find money some how and go abroad to be specialized in their favorite side .May be ENT etc. But other just start doing treatments at the age of 25-28 at dispensaries. They drive a decent car when they are 26 but at the age of 40 even they drive the same. But specialist comes with a huge reputation and earn millions. they drive BMWs at the age of 40.

this is true in respect to all other professions.

Great illustration whats really happening, however according to my consultant friend, being just a consultant and working at government hospitals for a peanut is not enogh, you, have to work hard further to build up a brand image, then only you can touch those earning figures, but only few succed.

I know a Dr. in Srilanka who sees roughly 140 patients per day for 6 days a week, Dr's fees alone is Rs.1000 per patient, apart from that for operations Rs.50,000 per operation, Dr. does minimum 13 operations per month.

I have a friend who get paid Us $ 20,000 a month, plus perks. He is the CEO. As well as Rs. 10 million a year for sitting on the board. And before u ask, I have already asked if there are any vacancies :-)

It's a private family owned co and he is the only non family member on the board. Nor is he married into the family. But he works late every night and most weekends. He kids hardly see him. So it's a trade off I guess.

Sidath ,

Hope it is a foreign company ? NOt inside the Sri lanka ?

What former Coca cola CEO says is " Go home as early as u finish the work , Since the life is at home not at the office " Any body can manage the work load but he/she need to delegate all the day to day work load after ensuring the internal controls. Prob. is no body kws the exact allowance and other benefits in the package.

No wonder, some consultants earn that much per month. But most of them getting it from privet practice(including surgeries done at privet sector). But as basic salary i dont know. From government consultants are getting 40000- 60000 as basic salary and with the allowances and OT 100000- 140000.

Local, based here, owns small hotels, real estate, spice exports, coconut estates, travel agents, garments, small manufacturing. This is what I was told, may have more. I think lot of inherited wealth. Did some recruiting of professional about 5 years ago, as the owners are getting old and their kids are living abroad.
