BINN's main attraction to traders is its low free float, but they may be playing with fire due to very poor fundamentals.

BINN has only 900,000 shares in issue, and Banyan Tree owns 80% of it - so free float is under 200,000 shares, with only 1,600 shares needed to enter Top 20 shareholders at 31/12/2010.

Fundamentals are very weak: hotel was destroyed in Dec 2004 tsunami, and no operations now - net book value is (minus) -Rs472 per share : Debt of Rs270 m - Related party dues of Rs227 m - Debt results in interest charges despite minimal staff - 2010 loss was -Rs25 m

Long term hope is that Banyan Tree will look to develop property. Property may also attract buyer - land extent not known, but last revalued in FY03.

Know the risk and the potential upside catalysts.
