I think whoever who predicted this may have completely got it wrong.
He may have anticipated a selling pressure expecting some of the retailers to sell their shares to withdraw cash in order to spend through the new year and holidays.
If that is the case, the selling pressure would have been generated few days before the holidays as it takes time for the seller to realize cash out of his sales. Those who sold their shares on Monday and Tuesday will not get their cash before the end of holiday period.
