@swan03: Yes, it is difficult. The odd lot Bid price is typically lower than the normal bid price, and the Ask price is higher than the normal ask price.

But, just out of curiosity - Why did you buy odd lot shares?

If I collect odd lots of a share time to time and make it 100 then can I sell it as a normal trade?
e.g. I buy some share 25 one day another 25 another day and finally another 50. So can I sell that 100 directly without using odd lots transaction?

me too was thinking of doing what Swan did, as I don't have much money at the moment. But my online system doesn't support odd lot transactions Sad

Hi,
Yes you can collect from the Odd Lot board, make it a 100 and then sell it off on the main board. But it usually takes a lot of time to build a 100 due to the low liquidity.

I do buy from the odd lot board when a stock split or a rights issue leaves me with an odd lot.

Yes you can, But make sure the price you buy is good . Usually there is a big gap between buying and selling bids. Also you need to factor in more fees if you do small transactions. Buying little shares of low/ medium priced counters ( 10 shares of Rs 20 counter) can add in higher fees to your bought price. Another example : do not buy 1 share of Gran at Rs 160 though it is below market. The fee it will be around Rs 180 ( I am just estimating).

So becareful when you do this. Buy at right quantity and price.

BTW note :There is a charge Subject to a minimum brokerage of Rs. 10/- per contract and a minimum CDS fee of Rs. 5/-

Thanks DK and slstock.

Didn't know about that additional cost, it seems I should study about odd lot trading bit more, before doing that. Smile

The charges would vary on your total investment, as there is a flat charge below a certain limit (even on the main board, this is there and you can easily see this if you buy something like 100 of SEMB.W0015, which trades around 1/=).

I just checked up on some odd lot stock trades I have done, the charges seem to be in the range of 1.175% (for a total investment of around 6400/=) to 1.275% (for a total investment around 2900/=). I'm sure there is some CSE document on fees, have seen it before, will post it here if I can find it.

Thanks DK. Please share them if you find. Smile

It seems, I misunderstood earlier, its not actually a additional cost, the same charges applies but if the cost is below a certain level then there are two fixed charges, CDS fee 5 and broker fee 10 (the minimum values for these two)

so if I buy 2 share of Rs.5, it'll cost me Rs.25.05 (5*2 + 5 + 10 + other charges)

as slstock mentioned if I buy 1 share at 160 it'll cost about 176 (160 + 5 + 10 + other charges)

You should be able to trade odd lots through your online account. There is a seperate tab for odd lots in my system. Check your interface and if you can't find the button, give a call to your adviser who will be able to guide you.

Vinu

usually for odd lot there is big buyer and seller difference compared to normal lots ( 0f 100).
So odd lot liquidity is less. Either the buyer has to go with the seller price which in most case might not be market price and vice versa.

As I explaiend earlier , one issue is buyer and seller has to factor in the minimum fees of CSE if the value of the ood lots are small. So there could be difference their also.

Becareful before you buy odd lots to do your math, It can bring you some profit or even loss it not bought at the right price + fees.

Hi, I too am very interested in this topic.

Does anyone here have any experience purchasing 'odd lot' shares through BMS online trading?

Although the facility to buy odd lot shares SEEMS to be available, my orders keep getting rejected...

Any help and advice in this regard will most appreciated!

Cheers.... afro

The BMS online software is not working for odd lots . Is has lot of limitations. Some one there told me that new software is being prepared. but may take time.

For odd lots you have to contact the advisor at BMs. also I checked the rights purchase option that is also not working.

Thank you for the prompt reply and help in this regard.....

I hope for the sake of their customers, they upgrade their software sooner rather than later! Shocked
