As per drafted audited accounts of the HDL that were received by Cornel Perera from HDL Board, its latest financials for 2010 highlights that HDL revenue increased from Rs.1.375 billion in 2009 to Rs.1.785 billion in 2010. Subsequently it has reported a gross profit of Rs.1.4 billion in 2010 compared to Rs.1.08 billion in 2009 whilst administrative expenses of the company has shot up to Rs.1.11 billion in 2010 compared to Rs.945 million in 2009. HDL’s finance cost has also surpassed over Rs.1.356 billion in 2010 compared to Rs.1.18 billion in 2009. Overall HDL has reported a loss of Rs.1.257 billion for 2010 compared to 2009 loss that amounted to Rs.1.175 billion

The financials also outline that loss per share as at 2010 is Rs.27 whilst company’s assets are valued at Rs.2.39 billion and the equity of the company is at negative Rs.8.26 billion with a total accumulated losses amounting to Rs.9.04 billion.

The public own 7.5% of HDL whilst the other shareholders are Japanese investor consortium Mitsui and Co/Taisei (27.5%) and Treasury (8.84%) with Cornel & Company of Cornel Perera’s majority stake (56.14% amounting to 25.3 million shares) are held in a trust.

All the parties relate to Hotel Developers HDEV are currently having some of the most complex court cases in modern era & these cases are link each other. On the top of that the over 9 billion accumulated losses..!!

What's disturbing is that Companies are not allowed to disclose financials to newspapers before they are submitted to the CSE.

Yes Tubal you are correct listed companies cannot disclose financials before CSE...

But for public interest Newspapers and Media Institutions can publish them; Nor CSE Nor SEC can control Free Media; and on the other hand publishing financials of a listed company that is undergoing many internal issues are more important for readers as well as investors when directors and regulators are in a soup!
