So other banks also has to offer this rate.

And a 12% bond will be issued by CBSL to compensate that.

The issue for CSE is will the funds taken out from here by them.

This having a serious issue... too much double digit number  Shocked
Is't for pensioners or elders..?
What's the age limit...?
Some one could obtain a loan and could pay back with interest received plus a profit in hand..?

Overall, not good for performance of CSE as well..

this is not a practical case. before they gave 1% for senior citizens and that also reduced or removed later.then how can they give extra 6-7% .
they will put some conditions/limit,or income limit etc . for example, maximum deposit amount is 100,000/= per pensioner etc.for that also they might ask grama niladari certificate etc... .

let see how they are going to do this.

Cannot think loan rate will be 12% or above, its against the CB monetary policy.. (bcz if the rate increase all the system will be reverse again)..
So how they going to do this..??
Hope only man who knows how to do this is PBJ... Very Happy

NO NO! This is so that interest rate in general can be kept low

Only small percentage of money in CSE is from pensioners. This is a good strategy to keep interest rates low. Good for CSE

- Both, elders and pensioners to pay 12% interest rate per annum for deposits in Govt. banks.
- Commercial banks and financial institutes is motivated to pay 11% interest rate on elders deposits.
- Deposits of elders is to be free from WHT and WHT to be reduced to 2.5% from next year.

WHT to be reduced to 2.5%?

Is this for the dividend income as well. Then it's good for all the investors and companies too.
