It should stay around 6500. Not 6000 as some others think. This is not the end of world. As long as capital system is there stock market will be there.

I would love if it come to 5500 by end of at least year end. But reality is that the current macroeconomic issues are not that much powerfull to pull it down that much. I also believe the current economic scenario will keep SCE arround 6500 for some time.

Other thing is market is not overvalued. It showed as little bit over valued market mainly due to few stocks less than 10 stocks.(during last 14 months) Now these stocks are plummeting. So market is looking very attractive now.
There are many value stocks. So far market didn’t have any powerful rally for small stocks. Sri-Lankan market entered the current uptrend only at the end of 2014. It didn’t perform well even in 2015 except rally in few stocks. Market didn’t have bubble outlook at any stage during last 18 months as we didn’t see strong rally in all types of stocks such as large, small, mid and speculative stocks and euphoria among market participants.

The strong earnings expected since the latter part of January will definetely change the direction of the market. I will share my picks later based on the expected earnings as well as current slump in prices.

Others are predicting 6000. I am predicting 6500. Market will not jump to 7000 suddenly. Current volatility will slow down gradually and we should see gradual rise in stocks thereafter. Month of February could become one of the active period in global market. Anyway, it is better to separate some individual stocks from the market especially badly beaten down attractive stocks. Some will have very strong cash flow during next two financial years as well due to new development, low cost environment and due to strong demand for their products. Once we buy stock we should do more home work on it. Remember some listed companies in Sri-Lanka will have more exports in 2016 and 2017 due to new development. Always try to study new development in your company such as new investment, expansion, change of demand, more market share here and in export market etc.

Look for companies which can generate more cash(cash cows are the best bet)
Look for companies having higher ROE
Look for companies having less debt
Look for fast grower in the group

Good luck in 2016 and 2017.
