I hv to check da duty of Allion .but Premio duty has gone up slightly.during last few years allion s not populer among U.R car buyers(u dont find 2014/15/16 models in SL)so difficult to compare da mkt price.

Very interesting discussion which helps forum readers a lot.
Everyone can see what would be the market price of affordable cars (below 1500 cc) set in after few weeks.

Just heard unconfirmed news that brand new cars imported by authorized dealers (export models) are not subject to new taxes imposed. Hard to believe. Please comment. Thx.

As I see we dont need to worry much,though the prices of vehicles over 1500cc gone up in a huge margin , Most of da honda models , vezel,insight & other models below 1500 has not change much including leaf. And those models will come down as well. So I dnt think much effect on middle class people and finance companies. Be cool :-)

Bitter truth is that most of the car sales try to create panic among public to clear their stocks before buyers realize the facts. Some media also supporting to spread their promotion, mostly they do before a weekends, while government officials/minister also maintain silence. Connecting the dots, i feel these moves are well planned and some group involved. They suck innocent people money.

No need to wait till da next election,they might change from da next budget.Also there s a posibility 2 reduce duties if they get da IMF loan.Till then we cant expect da prices to cme down.

I won't be surprised if this too is reversed in the near future in the backdrop of Japanese assistance to SL amounting to US$4b.

I also has some inputs for hotstock-
Sri lanka vehicle market price cant be predict accurately. The times yen rates down market was higher to the expected level and reason was high bidding.
In this case probably the vehicle which were over priced might not be imported to country or importing will get minimized. The prices marginally reduced vehicle will gone up a bit compared to the current price as these vehicles will be attract by bidders. Don't think vehicles considerably reduced as Vitz will ever come down as it should be. They also might adjust to some where around couple of laks behind where it is now.
