Covid outbreak witnessed a market collapse. Now no one is bothered about the number of deaths reported on daily basis.

Power cuts and fuel shortage induced negative sentiment will not last with the assurance that there will be no power cuts from 5th March and arrival of fuel shipments. However, the Govt should not allow these sort of issues in future.

Lets look forward to bullish sentiment to prevail at the CSE.

I totally agree with you. These unexpected events are inevitable, yet manageable. Now the fuel issue is temporarily sorted, and the electricity issue will be sorted from 5th March onwards (hopefully). Dollar issue is the only major issue on the plate. With the help of IMF and other financial institutes, this dollar crisis will be sorted within the next couple of months. Once it’s done, other issues (such as shortages of essential products, import restrictions, LC related issues) won’t be there. So here’s what I think; during these red days there’s no need to get panicked, and most importantly we should not sell our valuable shares for a cheap price. Patience is the key!

In my opinion the positive market sentiment will return with added vigour based on the following facts:

Even though the market ended in red, over the past two days the turnover was low compared to average T/O recorded in recent times.

Floating of rupee and scheduled IMF talks in April should reap benefits.

India's assistance of US$1bn coupled with Adani group's investments with assurance of more investments as stated by Indian FM recently should benefit both countries.

Tourism revenue of US$583Mn for the first two months of the year.

Expat worker remittance has increased by a significant 400%.

US$152.5Mn raised via issuance of Sri Lanka Development Bonds (SLDB).

We need the dollars to pay for import of essential goods. So, its ok to receive part of it in goods form.

Apart from that await big news in relation to huge Indian investments.

Market will go bellow 8000. What else could be expected ? High taxes, High inflation, huge amount of money printing, High interest rates are expected soon. Only positive thing is free float of exchange rates.
