I have calculated the anticipated dividend income for RENU for the Mar - Jun 2011 quater at Rs. 56 million. That is Rs. 8 per share. This will be reflected in the other income category of next quaterly report. (Dividends income calculated based on RENU's portfolio as published in the last available annual report)
On top of this, the company has shown remarkable increase in the profit from hotel operations in the recently published financial report which is a good sign.
Overall the future of RENU is promising to me. Do your own analysis and decide.

The balance sheet has Property (the hotel) carried at a book value of Rs 28 per share but this is dwarfed by Investments with a BOOK value of Rs 112, Cash per share of Rs 70 and loans to (probably) related parties of Rs 50.
The hotel just makes up around 10% of teh balance sheet.
I anticipate that the announcement will come next week, and payment in September. (That's been the pattern.) Last year, they paid Rs 5.50. With performance having improved and being cash rich, RENU ought to pay at least Rs 6 or Rs 7 this year.Gaja wrote:for last 3 financial years ( up to 31.03.2010 ), they declared dividend on the month of September? Can we expect a considerable dividend this time?

You are partly right - RENU's investments are valued at cost in the Balance Sheet.
But every year, in the Annual Report (Notes to the Financial Statements), RENU discloses the Market Value of their investments.
For example, see Page 27 of their Annual Report for 2009-10.
