Do they really need a share split? They have enough liquidity. There are many shares desperately need for share split. Ex, DIMO, CFIN, NEH etc...

Not at 1;10 . Maybe 1:4 or 1:3. Remember RICH did something like the same. Maybe they want to make it more liquid so it is easy for a small timer to buy. MAL thiugh undervalued has been stagnant compared to other plantation shares. So maybe management thought oh.. maybe this will help for the market to notice our share ;-)

If they produce good finanicals this quarter MAL can go up to RS 150 I beleive. Their 9 momth Eps is Rs 14.8 or close

This subdivision is really unnecessary.. and 1 into 10 is an absurd figure to me.. it should have been 1 into 2.. Now once the subdivision is done this will shoot up to 12-13 and stagnate on 10 for a long time and can go to 8-9 as well..

I posted like 2-3 weeks back as a Short term investment to buy MAL.X. At that time share was trading around Rs 61-62. Today it hit rs 89 and after split it will most probably be around rs 100 from current prices!

I also feel the sub division amount was to much, even NDB, LFIN ( Capitalization of Reserve ) was only 1 for 1

SEC did it again.

In terms of the SEC directive dated 14th September 2010, the 10% price band has been imposed on MAL.X.0000 & CTEA.N.0000 with effect from 21st February 2011 to 14th March 2011 (both days inclusive).
The full list of securities on which the 10% price band is applicable is attached.

I understand that CTEA rose 48% today. Before that there was steep drop before this rise. So I can understand the band.
But only rose MAL.X 23% T today. I though they consider 3 days of price movement before inflicting a band. What a way to kill the subdivision momentum.

I do not hold mal.x . Just a comment.

this happened to me once. i bought COCO at 48 then it shot up 53, coco.x also tagged along. Then the damn SEC put a price band on it.

Sad

The next day coco dropped to 49 and then slowly bled out. that was the end of that Crying or Very sad

MAL Results out! Rs 19 earnings per the last finical year. So MAL. X trading around at about PE of 4. It might even drop even lower! If some one bought the share after I said its great for short term could have earned over 25% gain in 2 weeks already and a lot more in a month or 2 time I'm sure!

MAL is a good company and few months ago it was even a undervalued share.. I didnt have a look at this after selling this when it came to 90s and now I'd think their sub division is too much and share is gonna get too much liquid after that. .so value wise, I'm not gonna jump to this now.. i'll wait till all the interest is over to buy back low.
X or N both has no value in my books at this stage.. Evil or Very Mad

I think Mal X was queite illiquid stock. May be thats why they thought of a split+they wanted to be noticed. Come on everybody does it. So why not Mal?

too much liquid will harm the share price to move rapidly......i think MAL would have the effect which RICH had after the split.......

That's the best picture of it.. I guess it needs a sub but 1 into 10 means too much.. Why the mgt wants to bring down the share price to make it too liquid.. the illiquid nature attracts it more..
The case with RICH was also the same.. how many months RICH has stagnated to run up till the results were released.. the same can happen to MAL... Now i'd wait patiently till this comes to 10 after sub and wait more to see whether it goes to 9..
