I have just analyzed both BFL and TAFL.

BFL
03/2010 --> 4.45
06/2010 --> 6.51
09/2010 --> 7.15
12/2010 --> 10.24

Annual EPS --> 28.35
Current Market Price --> 407.00
Current PER --> 407/28.35 = 14.36

NVPS --> 70.41
PBV --> 407/70.41 = 5.78

TAFL
03/2010 --> 0.02
06/2010 --> 1.07
09/2010 --> 4.43
12/2010 --> 5.29

Annual EPS --> 10.81
Current Market Price --> 185.00
Current PER --> 185/10.81 = 17.11

NVPS --> 17.67
PBV --> 185/17.67 = 10.47

BFL is still attractive than TAFL at the current market price.

ETF is missing from the TOP 20 list in TAFL. They have made a bad decision. Razz Perpetual Capital and Perpetual Asset Management are entered to the list.

Both are growing companies. See, quarter to quarter they are growing. We have to use PEG ratio to analyze these type of stocks.

if we apply 20 PE

TAFL 216
BFL 567

Can we consider PE 20 for food sector?

Also PEG for both should be below 1 considering the growth potential...

TAFL is a turn around company and on forward earnings looks very attractive.

If you look at BFL, it is at about 10 times forward earning and TAFL is at about 8.5 times. Both look very good to me.

I am looking at forward earnings because I am expecting more growth from bothe these companies. Therefore, (5.29 x 4)/185 is approx 8.5
BFL - (10 x 4) / 405 = approx. 10

Both look solid in a growing industry and a growing economy.

No two words. Both are undervalued when we consider PEG. But they do they increase their production according to the market need? We have seen BFL started a new project.

http://www.cse.lk/cmt/uploadAnnounceFiles/1851292483169_452.pdf

So, I expect more growth from BFL than TAFL in the future.

Positive thinking. I like it Cool Now u may consider the expected earnings from their new project, tax free farm.. No tax means its just the profit they have to mark.. and mind u.. for how long.. a whooping 10yrs it is? Even the normal production falls, this will add an added benefit to the bottom line.. Now we're certain that for 10yrs the production is gonna benefit from the new farm..
That itself is an attractive factor for an investment consideration.. Counter looks promising as a long term investment, aint it?

Look at TAFL, we can only think they're gonna produce more good results next qtrs.. but its not a guaranteed thing.. We yet to hear their new projects, developments, etc.. So for the moment.. Yes.. both are attractive.. but we have a certain revenue generator in the list ;-)

Given the facts to what extent the poultry industry can boom benefiting from tourists arrival, etc.. its not a good idea to say these 2 are overvalued.. Last time when I checked BFL was in a greater extent to have more profits than these 2 with the tax free farm production..
But it doesn't mean GRAN & TAFL are not good.. In fact the whole poultry sector is gonna enjoy more benefits in future with their developments.. We're in the worldcup season now so this may bring additional revenue for both hotel industry and poultry due to increase in consumption.. Not only these, the entire F&B sector is gonna benefit thru this..

I wish if GRAN & TAFL can announce their new projects soon.. so we can think of these two as well..

06/2010 --> 6.51
09/2010 --> 7.15
12/2010 --> 10.24
According to above data we can expect above 10 Rs quarterly EPS in 2011. Most possibly BFL will come up with above 40 annual EPS in 2011.
As the best performance is to come in future with the new BOI approved venture in Anamaduwa above 700Rs price is very possible.
( 40EPS* 20=800Rs)

If we consider same P/E for NEST and BFL
BFL price should be 680 / 35.19 * 28.35 = 548.00
But, if you compare the earning pattern BFL is MORE WORTH THAN NEST. So, it should trade above NEST. That means more than 680/=. If we add the new farm project earning... Price should be more than......????

Results are as expected. TAFL archived over 5 EPS. and gran near 3.5 EPS.
So all poultry sector companies are very attractive. we can expect more more growth from all 3 companies.

Results as expected we now need to look at the next few months and factor in the best possible scenario of the poultry sector which looks extremely promising. One thing I can say is this is not the last of the chickens expect more runs , periodical contractions but over all growth coupled with some splits this is still a good sector to be in .

I saw couple of comments on new projects. This is typical mantalaty of people who have been brainwashed by some people( no need to mantion the name).

Looks ta the finance reports... these kind of projects on going in nature, once ther capacity reached full utilisation , they go for new one. so, this time it happned to BFL and they went. At GRANor TAFL, still there capacity of newly done project there to be ustlised.Tax holidays are not new things for BOI projects... Do you really think other competitors are STUPID?

It is how the industry works... you should be mindfull of whether BFL is acquirng the market share from TAFL. It's not happning....Is it heppening?

Those comments brings out the immaturity of investors and they don't know how this industry works. Moreover, you should not be thinking that single sector in the value chain will share a dispropotionate portion of the value.

The thing with stuff like chicken is that the market as a whole is expanding. More and more people are eating chicken for a variety of reasons that i'm not going to go to here.
