She is a millionaire - but she refuses to give up her job as a road sweeper.
According to the South China Morning Post, Ms Yu Youzhen, 53, owns 17 flats worth over 10 million yuan (S$1.9 million).
She amassed her fortune through hard work and real-estate rental.
But despite being a millionaire, Ms Yu insists on keeping her road sweeper job.
She still gets up at daybreak, six days a week, to work for the Wuchang District Urban Management Bureau in Wuhan, central China.
She cleans about 3km of roadway, scrubbing pavements and clearing rubbish bins for 1,420 yuan (S$279) a month.
Mr Fu Guoju, the head of her cleaning department, noted that she had taken only three days off in 14 years to attend the funerals of her mother-in-law and father.
Ms Yu has also never been late for work.
"Work is not just about the salary, it makes one focused. Laziness gives rise to all sorts of bad habits," Ms Yu told Wuhan Evening News.
But her work ethic is only part of the reason. She also works so her children will learn from her.
Ms Yu told Wuhan Evening News: “I want to be a role model for my son and daughter. I don’t want to sit around idly and eat away my fortune."
And her two children have certainly taken after her hardworking streak.
Ms Yu's son, Liang, 33, works as a driver, earning 2,000 yuan a month, while her daughter earns about 3,000 yuan a month manning a kiosk at a cinema.
