On Friday the February 6th the indices closed in green as a result of gains in counters such as John Keells Holdings, Commercial Bank and Carson Cumberbatch whilst the turnover crossed 2.0 Bn. Crossings in Textured Jersey Lanka and Nations Trust Bank reflected high net worth and institutional market participation. Mixed interest was observed in Dialog Axiata, People's Leasing & Finance and Piramal Glass whilst retail interest was noted in Sierra Cables, John Keells Holdings Warrant 23 and Lanka IOC.
Foreigners remained active closing as net sellers mainly due to foreign selling in Commercial Bank. During the week, both ASPI and S&P SL20 lost 0.24% and 0.08% respectively.
Diversified sector was the top contributor to the market turnover (due to John Keells Holdings) whilst the sector index gained 2.90%. The share price of John Keells Holdings increased by Rs 7.20 (3.57%) to close at Rs 208.80.
