My advise is" pl. dont fall in love with shares" When ever u believe that u have a good margin then u can deside. I cant sell even today Some of my stocks Because i have to bear a big loss. Unfortunately I didn't take a correct decission when their prices were peak.

I would buy NTB ,seylan or NDB instead of Union bank IPO.
seems to me UB is not undervalued at banking sector(but that does not mean it may not up the price) .
I think UB guys just list few shares in to the market to increase its price. they already had massive private placements before the IPO. this is another trick of these companies.. just list small number of shares as IPO and very large number of shares of private placement just before the IPO.

compare with UB IPO price , NTB ,Seylan,NDB banks are way ahead..

i am doubt they might allocate less than 1% of the shares u apply for (1,000 for 100,000) i am not sure but i expect this to be oversubscribe heavily due to the fact the total value of the IPO is 375 Million and its peanut for most of the investors to deposit 11.5 Million

econ i am not sure about the price they come to mkt, but looking at the recent performance of our market i think these 2 things will happen

it will be oversubscribed heavily
it hope in the first day you MIGHT GET a reasonable Capital Gain

Just for information, i personally know some of my friends apply for 1,100 shares and the factor was most of them coming to the market first time

You are right. We apply for thosands but you get only few hundreds. Unnecessoraly u block your capital. As you mentioned you will lose the oppotunities to collect some shares at right time.

yes surely it will oversubscribed heavily as number of shares is very small issue as IPO.
but they have 350 million shares overall so they know that issueing small number shares as IPO their(directors) capital increase heavily. I think cse should take measures for these type of tricks.. such as issue a rule like atleast 25% of public share issue when it comes to IPO..
other wise companies just issue small number of shares in IPO and increase the market value of the company..

In my personal opinion NDB was the most under valued share in the BFI sector. I am may be wrong but i am holding it as a long term investment

Yes NDB is one of a best counter in banking..
their NPL ratio is also quite small.

NDB was stagnant around 350levels,until they announce the split........then it went up and came down again....i think this will run after the split.........i may be wrong

shares like NDB, JKH, SPENCE, SAMPATH, COMM, HAYL to run we need fund managers, institutional investors, or heavy net wealth individual involvement needed. I think they keep out of the market or they purposely keep it at these price in order to increase their holding, because on some shares there was frequent Crossing almost everyday. I am also try to find out the buyer of Spence Shares today, but up to now it was failure
