What will be good stocks to hold for great dividends?
Dividends are given Quaterly and Annually right?

not only good dividends, generally, share prices also appreciate gradually due to earnings in shares with good dividends.

Can you please let me know one good reason why we do not need to hold shares for dividends?
I have LLUB shares which I bought over a year ago and already I recieved more than 10% of my capital as dividends. If im desperate I can sell my shares with more than 20% profits.
There are some companies give you just one off dividends but it does not say dividends are meaning less.

I cannt agree what you said " dont hold stocks for dividends"
It is much better than buying shares at peak and keep moarning....

If one really wants to buy stocks for dividends then CFVF is the one to buy. Last year they gave out 15 rps as dividends out of the 16 EPS. This year they have a EPS of 10.There is a chance that they announce a dividend this year also because they have very less reinvestment options.

You can hold the shares for good dividends but i think it will be a extra advantage only. Mainly object has to be as per me to follow the company growth for the profit from the brought shares .

I agree: You should buy shares mainly for capital appreciation.
However, in bearish markets, it makes sense to hold shares of good companies that yield regular annual dividend of about 7%. At least you can withstand the downturn, knowing that such shares cannot drop too much...

In bearish markets why take the risk of putting your money for high dividends shares? If you get let's say maximum 7% annually in risky shares as dividend, then there is also the risk of the losing capital too. You have to deduct the broker commission too. That's a big amount. In that case 10% safe short term deposits or even other finance company deposits are much profitable without the risk.

Investing in high dividend yielding shares is a kind of middle path - a hedging mechanism for those with a higher risk appetite than a typical FD investor. It is an accepted defensive strategy because the downside risks are somewhat limited, whereas the upside opportunity is not.
I also favour Bank FDs yieldng 10% because of their safety and guaranteed returns; unfortunately, FDs do not give me the potential for capital appreciation.
My comment was specific: "shares of good companies". Just as an example, look at the chart pattern of CTC over the past 3 months; I wish I had invested some money there.

CTC is a good 'real' stock. What's special is that it's a very illiquid share. Most of the ways you can compare it to BUKI or CARS in the liquidity characteristic. If you take BUKI and CARS they don't go down either although they have no dividends or the price benefit. (Sorry for the comparison CTC shareholders, I'm talking about the liquidity only) I have a feeling it could be the same current share holders who could be buying to keep the price steady because it can't be a preferable share for others as it's so illiquid.
