I use DirectFN TWS provided by Asha Philips. But I presume Capital Trust & Asha use same softwear.


It seems it is same for the Capital trust, but the "Cash statement" doesn't give any results for me. Not sure that is the case for all Capital Trust users.

btw, Intrinsic, have you every tried the 'Set alert' option in dfn tws, I set some alerts, but they didn't get triggered when the condition met. Have you ever tried that?

1. Cash Statement : Make sure you update the period under review (Ex: From 01/01/2011 to 11/05/2011).
2. Alert Manager : It works. Have you seen the yellow bell-mark just by the symbol you alerted, in the watch list or full market list ? Right now I can't check it since the market is closed.

Have you got your things sorted out ? my Alert Manager is also now turned defunct ! I contacted IT Support at Brokerage Firm. As per their instructions I uninstalled & re-installed DirectFN, but no improvement !!

Earlier I couldn't see Odd lot prices with DFN....Now I can.....
Have you contacted your broker regarding this matter ?

Yesterday, I sent an order to buy some shares, then a few minutes later, I decided to cancel the order. So I went to the order list and saw that the order was still queued and clicked on cancel, however i got a message saying that no such order exists in the queue, however the money amount was still blocked in my account. I kept on trying to cancel through out the day, but kept getting the same message. Then when the market closed the Order list said that my order has expired. then Today morning when the market opened i checked my account and portfolio only to find that the order had been carried out. Why did this happen?

Who is your broker? is it Capital Trust?

Well. My broker is Capital Trust and my Order book was stuck. ( I could see what was happening in the market.....so it wasn't Directfn that was stuck ) I sent a mail with screenshots to my broker and customer reps. But my order was filled after about another hour Sad

Yesterday when I called them, they said they are having some issues and they are fixing it. But today morning also there were issues when putting orders. Couldn't cancel or amend anything. It didn't show the orders as filled even if they were filled they were showing as New.
But by the evening it seemed to be ok. May be they have fixed it now.

Missed some opportunities because of that Crying or Very sad

Oh don't worry my friend. Remember to get your adviser's help when these kinds of problems occurred.
If you are in a very busy situation, don't go for correcting technical problems by your self. Inform them about that and do your trades manually without losing good opportunities. I have many experiences on this as of my old broker firm.
