In what appeared to be a major political strategy, the United National Party (UNP) today decided to support SLFP General Secretary and Health Minister Maithripala Sirisena as the common candidate for the upcoming presidential election.

UNP Assistant General Secretary Akila Viraj Kariyawasam said the members of the UNP’s G-20, which was set up to take decisions on the presidential election, made this decision when they met this morning.

He said a final decision would be taken at the party’s Working Committee meeting this evening

there is no uncertainty in the outcome of the process.
I personally like if ranil contest and come clean to power without help of this plot .but as usually politics is a dirty game. it is same this time too.
Ranil will be the powerfull prim minister.
maithree will be the head of state with the ministry of defence in his hand.
foreign parties are aware of this outcome ,that is the reason for increase foreign buying last few weeks.
looks like some western influence also involved through chanrdika good or bad.
some strong nationalistic politicians are in, therefore little relief. rathna thera ,champika, sajith,jvp etc.

Few questions:
1) What did CBK do to develop the country and defeat LTTE terror as claimed by MS?
2) Does anyone believe that MS will be independent of CBK and her manipulations?
3) Even if MS is elected, will the JHU agree to some of the things that they are planning to do (especially regarding implementation of the 13th Amendment) and then what happens to the stability of GOSL?
4) Are any of these politicians beyond corruption?
5) Will minority parties agree to a parliamentary system instead of a proportionally represented system?
6) And what's with the crying between CBK and MS? are these leadership qualities?

It seams business entrepreneurs and some big shots are always favor of MR for security of their investments.

In general apart from the above, people really need a change to eliminate this corrupt family politics.
(Point no:4 - We can not stop 100% corruption in politics yet we could save unnecessary wast of our country's resources from MR business)

No! I just asked a few questions any sane person would ask. I believe MS was being deceptive and has become a pawn of CBK lead interests! After the euphoria what next! All I saw was personal grievences and the usual BS about corruption (easy to say hard to prove and everyone accuses the governing party as long as they are in the opposition) laid out in front of the public. Except for constitutional changes I did not hear anything about the future of this nation.

patchchasira you have a very sound argument.

People with common sense will understand all these crossovers are done on personal grievances not to protect country.

MS wanted premiership , CBK we all know.

As I have mentioned earlier this Fruit salad politics wont sustain , we as the investor community have got a lot to worry now for due to political instability that would drag the country backwards in next year.

Sstar, I think you should start buying now ... I mean now...slowly but steadily..Now itself rather wait till the election results. Once the election results out, we are done and market will start moving again.

Personally, This is the time I am going to show my maturity in CSE. I have been in CSE for long time. I have been through most of the the blood baths. I survived. This news is nothing comparing to what we had in the past. so I am prepared.

Play smart.... Collect... Sell High.... I'd satisfied with small returns now probably..10%

I hope we'll get good opportunities till the election end

I think no need to wait till jan to BUY, we should buy according to price actions..... so we will not miss our favorite share or shares

exactly shark. I agree with you 100% That's what I thought too.
I think we should have some cash in hand to some extend to grab the opportunities along the way to election. we will see opportunities in coming months rather after election.

some people exit from the market previous dip at 7400 ..
some people panic exit this dip at 7500..
both are waiting for enter again 2015 January..
so January we can't buy this discounted price valuable stock..

better for start the collection this level
if will UNP come to the stage, we will see another 2010 market again. don't miss it.

We need to analyze which sectors have more to gain and lose in a crisis, and decide on mid and a long-term plan. This type of uncertainty can lead to great opportunities for investors who position themselves to take advantage of it.
